Hi. It's my first time posting a game, so suggestions or modifications to the rules are most welcome. I've never played something like this either, so I don't know if you people might like it, or if it will go on long enough.
Anyway, here's the thing (if you haven't already guessed it from the topic): anagram the current word and either add or remove a letter. For example:
Poster #1: SPARE
Poster #2: PEARLS
Poster #3: RELAPSE
Poster #4: ELAPSE
... and so on.
Rules:
1. Use valid English words only. No proper nouns please.
2. No two consecutive posts should have the same number of letters. Either add one letter (it can even be something as simple as adding an S to get a plural) or remove one.
3. To keep it sane, at no point should the number of letters in a word exceed 10 or go below 3. So if the previous poster has posted a 10-letter word, you can't add another letter to it. You have to remove one to get a 9-letter word, and vice versa for 3-letter words. A couple of examples:
- LEOPARDS => POLARISED => DEPOLARISE => (have to remove a letter) SPOILERED
- LAPSE => PALE => ALE => (have to add one letter) REAL
4. Try and avoid posting something that's already been posted before. Most people wouldn't want to go through the previous page(s) to see if their words have already been used, so ... simply pressing Ctrl+F and typing in your word to see if it matches something on the current page will do.
Victory Condition:
If no one is able to come up with a reply for a long enough time (one month? Any ideas what might be reasonable?), the last poster wins. The game starts again; and the winner gets to choose the first word.
Winners:
So I'll start with the seven letter word having most anagrams: RETAINS
