Until Impe7us completes his fantastic job scanlating the manga, we won't know whether Yoshitomi Akihito brings his terrific balance (through 2 volumes) of suspense, science fiction, slice-of-life, humor and fan service to a satisfying climax and conclusion.

I'd say there's a 50/50 chance he did it in the completed volumes.  I worry a little that the phantoms are a weird combination of abduction mechanism, plastic doppelganger, and black hole.  Seems like a weird combo of tech or life form.  At least the central premise (where'd everyone go?) and the relationships of the 4 survivors are engaging.

Do you think he will?

I hope so.  It's been a pretty engaging story so far, although things got weirder with a vengeance in the latest chapter.  The phantoms are obviously intelligent, and apparently have some sort of telepathy (they can also speak).  I really want this series to live up to it's promise, which has really been built up well in the preceding chapters.

Yes, I think it lived up to its promise.
