nope that's not the case

the dark elf met/heard the voice of his deceased otaku friend, and that's how she was able to create a link with lute who recogmised his name

Turns out that Xiah/Shia (why there was the change in the translation usage is beyond me) is an assistant to an Elvish princess whose sister went missing. After she did, the royal elf family found a diary of hers where she supposedly was having premonitions of future events (things kick into epic badass LOTR-level overdrive because of this - I won't ruin it for you). Her sister predicted that the young princess' assistant would go to a slave market and meet Lute, and that saying that name would make him too interested to turn her away. Having read up to Chapter 90 and seeing the conclusion of this arc, none of them appear to know about Lute's past life or his friend. Only one that might is the sister of the princess - the one who had the premonitions and disappeared.
