How about an Isekai tag (literally "new world") ?

This tag could include two suggested tags which are "Reincarnated" and "Teleported to a different world".

My point is that this is one of the main theme from Light Novel and there's more and more adaptation in manga being serialised.

 

Some good exemple for this tag would be : "Mushoku Tensei", "Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari", "Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken", "The New Gate".

Since those kind of series seems to be quitte appreciated and followed here it might be great for their readers to found similare countent easilier.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already or not.

 

I think tag "Diabetic" would warrant for those manga that gives you feeling so sweet and heartfelt.  Odette is a prime example.  

 

romantic is quite different from those being "cute and sweet".

 

I think that I am not only one who have difficulties to find manga that are not "romantic" but are cute and heartfelt/sweet.

 

Hence "Diabetic" tag is deserved to be added.  Of course if anyone has got better word than "diabetic", go for it.  I'm not a wordsmith after all.

Definitely need something. Mangaupdates uses Transported to Another World.

Isekai is a little vague but probably the best.

I'd like a way to report shotacon. I don't want to see it but I also don't think it deserves a tag.

 

This is also related to a requested split between Gender Bender and Transgender works. I wish I didn't have to say this. I really do not want to see a cartoon 8 year old's balls when I am on line.

I would love if we could get a 'Cross dressing' tag to suppliment the 'gender bender' tag/Genre.  Many times Gender Bender is used simply to indicate what is in truth, simply cross dressing.

Agreed, Isekai rather too Many, even isekai tags OUTNUMBERED Music, Medical and Cooking genre.
In these half 2017 over 120 manga with Isekai genre published into manga. This number grow fast 250% in past 5 Years

Even we had Group scans with spesific isekai manga such as LH Translation, Biamam Scans, Champion Scans... ect

In the near future I believe, there is more incoming Manga with Isekai genre.

I think the biggest potential problem is covering series like Sayonara Ryuusei which are "Isekai-ish" but not actually "Isekai". Readers should ideally be able to filter series like that out, but it also wouldn't make sense to place Isekai on them. There's real trouble here in that I feel like a lot of these series are linked by content and style rather than actual genre, if that makes sense, but I don't think there's an elegant way to handle this. I think to an extent these have to be accepted as a lost cause.

 

The tag itself, though...

 

The vagueness itself is probably fine, since "Isekai" is a super open-ended idea to begin with, and I think the community will do a decent job of handling the tags. Isekai is about as subtle as a bull in a china shop. As long as the genre description is not needlessly tight, it'll likely get handled fine, essentially running along the lines of "A series where the main character has an origin, knowledge or common sense stemming from another universe/world." This covers the majority of edge cases, though there would need to be explicit consideration for cases like VRMMO. Essentially it would need to be decided whether the focus of the "Isekai" tag would lie on the setting (dude in another world) or the content (dude using "earth common sense" to interact with predominantly fantasy setting people/creatures).

 

I'm not really sure how to handle cases like VRMMO, honestly. I feel like the tag wouldn't fit in that case, but if it were a little more shounen-style and harem-esque I'd probably feel it would. I feel like considerable discussion would be needed to solve the nature of these "real" edge cases.

 

The most complete thing to do would be content tags (as you noted), but barring that the next closest would be a genre tag along the lines of reversing time/being reborn/returning to an earlier state/etc. in order to fully split the broad "isekai zone" into "reborn, same world", "reborn, different world" and "different world". But this would also (arguably) add some unnecessary tags and just make things cumbersome.

 

Either way I think there's a strong argument for the "Isekai" tag to be made. The flood of content coming out from it as a pseudo-genre demands some kind of response, I think. When we've got a series about a dude dying and turning into a hot spring, you know that the genre saturation is extreme. Particularly because some people will want to search up or avoid isekai content, especially in conjunction with other tags ie: ecchi.

There should certainly be tags for things people commonly dislike so they know to avoid them (NTR for example).
