The major problem I have with the story is that in season 1, it used to be the only good story that really didnt have clear villans. Every "bad" person has had a clear human justification- The horned guy/girl was envious and so was rachel. But now we just get Raflejo's " muh eyes were stabbed 1000 year ago and i still hold a grudge", or the white haired guy who just wants to kill because he is evil. I also think that the show suffers from too many characters and probably Prince/goseng/miseng/akraptor/bee guy/ red guy/chang/quaetro/silver haired swordsman and maybe yeon have no real reason to be in the comic.

I do agree on 'too many characters syndrome'. The new characters in Hell Train so far are better in comparsion though, so I hope some of Gongbang members stay behind and some from this arc stays.

To be honest I think I loved first half of season 2 more than season 1.

To be honest I think I loved first half of season 2 more than season 1.

The only edge Season One had on its sequel, in my opinion, is a much stronger cast of Regulars. Season Two has had better storylines on the whole, but it'd harder to care about them when I just don't care nearly as much about the characters involved. The whole thing is kind of a wash in the end, as I see it.

About the fall in popularity of Tower of God: it should be noted that on Line, even though the rating of ToG as a whole has indeed dropped, and continues to do so, the Likes for individual chapters have gotten WAY up for the past few weeks (from about 700 per week since the beginning of the train city arc to over a 1000 consistently since the meeting between Baam and Rachel). So I think those changes just reflect the way the quality of ToG ebbs and flows, and I do not believe it should be any cause of worry at the moment. I think ToG will continue for a very long time, and it's bound to be less good as some point, and get better (or not^^) later on. So unless the quality drops dramatically (kind of like the end of The Gamer season 1, which I found atrocious, I have no idea how people on Line could like it and I believe the ratings on Naver have gone way down, although I checked some time ago so it might have changed), I do not think a temporary lull in ratings should be considered a real problem.

Thinkint about it I think I also really miss the old artstyle of the battle scenes. Baams fighting style used to be....more elegant, it flowed and in general I always knew what happened but with the new art style I sometimes just can`t tell what is happening at all. Perhaps that`s just me but I think SIU uses too much blurring effects in his fight scenes.

I think the LINE translation needs an editor with a better idea of what reads well and looks correct to native speakers. Ideally, they'd go back through and edit all of the old chapters too. I actually have a somewhat hard time recommending it without also mentioning "oh yeah, but you have to fight the engrish to be able to enjoy it...and you'll probably want to read this other site for blog translations to help better develop/clarify the setting."

In the beginning I was filling out the forms to tell them where things were particularly bad, but by now it's long felt like too much effort when they'd only update/make changes some of the time. And the blog posts or at least the ones with extra setting details should really be included even if it would mean releasing via LINE on wednesday instead of on sunday/monday. Make that change after his next break, maybe. Weekly is weekly and I don't particularly care which day of the week it is. Start prepping for it now by putting old information-heavy posts into a corner at the end similar to what batoto was doing when they were playing catch-up.

Beyond that, yeah. I think the thing is LINE is mostly popular among women judging by the popularity rankings and the average comment at the end of each chapter. Or at the very least, women are more likely to actually vote in popularity rankings, make comments, etc. I don't think most people have too much of a problem with the plot or anything--the elevator section seemed horribly paced at the time but reading through the entire thing now it actually isn't terrible and got what he wanted done--it just doesn't contain a lot of elements that seem to be popular with the current, actively voting/liking/etc. LINE userbase. Probably actually contains a lot of off-putting elements, to be honest, like blood, violence and talk of rape. Can't and shouldn't do much for that--censorship is bad.

edit: people were talking about view counts on LINE compared to naver itself, but I'd actually think LINE would have more. It's in more languages and I'm sure plenty of koreans enjoy reading the LINE versions as well, especially the ones in language courses for english, french, spanish or whatever else it's translated into.

Yes, I believe it's not a coincidence that the chapters that are the least well-liked are the ones I found to be the least well translated... I wish there were some dedicated fans that were ready to use the fan translating tool to correct all those mistakes, then again so few people would actually see it that it probably wouldn't change ratings at all

Likes jumped because ToG's quality is dropping and people are leaving, and only people who are still willing to tolerate it are left and those people are dropping in the likes. I'm staying just because I invested a lot of interest in ToG and now I'm on a mazohistic journey to see it to the end, like with Naruto.

Like what TheCompany was doing here on Batoto before LINE sadly and poorly took over, much to the sadness and disappointment of ANYONE WHO CARES FOR PROPER WORK.

Thank you, memebers of TheCompany, for all the good work you didn't have to do and for what you weren't payed for, and yet you did it so well LINE should hide in a hole.

Who cares. A lot of  people don't even vote in popularity ranking XD

Anyway, looking at line, the first spot are now taken by the likes of Girls of the wilds and Untouchable... lol, this should say something XD

Ahahahaha Girls of the Wilds!! That manwha doesn't even have a plot. Looking on Alexis, most of the site's audience seems to be females so a "shoujo" manga being rated higher isn't exactly news to me.

Line now offers fan translations. You click on the page and your translation gets overlayed. I don't know the limitations but someone who speaks Korean might publish a grammatically cleaned up version without having to translate from scratch.

The problem with TOG is that it's loosing some of its orginal flavor. Almost all manga/comics/webtoons are recombinations of old themes and formulas. DBZ is a recombination of Journey to the West and all other shounen use the DBZ elements in a recombined way. When I first found TOG the art was pretty bad and Grumpy wasn't even producing a great translation, but it was totally original. The characters, setting, and challenges were something that I hadn't really seen before. Such a breath of fresh air.

SIU's orginal stuff is crazy good and different, but he's having a dry spell and is forced now to rely on ground that has been previously tread so that he can meet his deadlines. A prolonged second album slump. The questions is will he get over it? He needs to get back to the roots of the kind of person who would call himself Slave-in-Utero. Not that he was ever that dark but still.

How about now?
IMO the pacing has gotten alot better along with the current storyline. It seems even Lester's wish (mine aswell) could be fulfilled rather soon.
With Baam finishing the revolution storyline and with Yuri appearing things might take a big turn rather soon.
It seems the Princess of Zahard arc is right behind the corner and it seems it will begin on 43rd floor when White dies(gets beaten by Baam) and Baam becomes worthy of carrying the irregular status.
Oh and yeah, the ratings on LINE have doubled since september.
