i have to say this ending is wrong on some many levels, the mangaka pulled a move of "let's put what it want for a ending while I try to not be hated by fans " i mean  it wasn't a happy heroine ending since Chitose (who i have to say came from almost no existent character to main heroine) restarted the relationship with Keima and it's not a harem ending (which would have been  a better ending since this manga was about that) because Ayumi,Tenri and Haqua get out of the fight and only one of the goddesses still wants Keima, even if  Wakaki didn't want a harem ending, he have better choices of a heroine with Ayumi and Kanon, those  two did have best arcs of the goddeses and the best flags of all them.

And what about the other things that remained unexplained and excluded so hard like Keima father, who really is Elsie? (i mean if she was the leader of vintage or a mayor demon that was wanted to be resurrected by vintage)  and Haqua was so chopped off of the story, i'm not asking for Keima choosing her or she being introduced into the harem at last moment, but at least she could have been showed in this final chapter, after all she was one of the main character and she did a lot of things on the manga and loved Keima as much as other girls.

I really think the mangaka rushed the things too much and messed up a lot in the biggest part of this great manga

this entire thing is an opinion. But I do respect what you are going for. However, I have to disagree with you.

From the start, this was a series where author based his work on his life problems. The girls were the euphemisms for those problems and Keima held ways for author to escape from his life problems.

In case those who have no idea about his life, to summarize:
Graduates Kyoto U with degree in literature
Self-studies manga, Became #1 Anticipated Mangaka by winning contest (1993)
Quote "we can't wait to see what his career in 10 years is like!" (Irony alert: KamiNomi came out 13 years AFTER this)
His constant works after that gets rejected, goes into hideout
Becomes assistant
Runs away, becomes NEET ("Played DOAX until I passed away")
Went back to Assistant
Work he finally does get published gets axed due to poor sales (2004-2005)
Goes back to NEET ("Only have 10000 yen left on my account" "but I don't want to cancel Ninja Gaiden preorder")
Published prototype for KamiNomi (2007)
Winning at life ever since

I posted this elsewhere but it got deleted because mods doesn't know how to edit good posts out.
"Keima was also hailed as a genius, a god, and gains popularity through his work. This essentially have same effect on the author. He was hailed as a genius, a god, and gained popularity through his work.

But Keima was, and still is, no god, and neither is our author. Keima can't have a route where all the girls will like him realistically. Author can't write an ending where everyone will be happy. Just like life and tribulation, someone will be sad, and not everyone will reach ending with one they want at a first go. Author wanted to convey that. Reminder to people that author's favorite character was Ayumi. But in the end, he gave Keima what he felt was the best for the person who was, in the end, not a god. A regular human being. Person he actually had to work toward his goal for.

This was the final message, even if the end result wasn't what everyone would be happy with, he wanted to convey. Do your best, and one day you'll get what you worked hard for. It doesn't matter relationship, work, life, family, friends.

Chihiro. Ayumi. Tenri. Kanon. Tsukiyo. Shiori. Dokuro/Nikaido. Haqua. Elsie. They all worked toward their goals. Some got what they worked for. Some didn't, but it was an open ending. They will, most likely."

Just pray that next work comes soon, and he doesn't end up doing harem series, maybe that's the ending we can all wish for in the end.

mmmm i see your point, and now i'm understanding all this a little more, but i still can't shake off that feeling that the ending just go wrong, i still think that he could reached a "better" ending than just only a "right" ending but this come from differents point of view about all the characters, yes it's maybe impossible getting and harem ending and even could be totally wrong but his picking on the right girl feels very unnatural to me,talking only about the manga point of view, maybe that's becuase i'm seen too much  boy first "special" girl meeted = shipped xD looks like i'm needing more mangas where MC choose the "correct" girl (o w o)
and yes let's pray the next manga of him doesn't get too complicated at the end

Tenri got so screwed over in this manga.

screwed still doesn't tell that much, she got totally destroyed, god even in guilty gear they don't destroy people like she was, the only one girl who actually get friendzoned...AND forever since the very beginning  :(

I do agree that he probably could have dragged on if he wished. But he proved he can sell. Do know that KamiNomi was on the axing board early on, too.

I think where he cut it was perfect chance when he had it. Otherwise we end up with series' like Bleach and YuYu Hakusho, series that continues on with same plot and doesn't really have a point anymore except satisfying hardcore fans.

Ending was good, everything solved, no dragging, good guys won, bad lost, everyone is happy (in a way), everything we could wish for was done (excluding these who cheered for diffrent girl, but you never can satisfy these ppl), yet somehow I find something lacking in this ending

thats how shonen mangas are. Look at Dragonball for the best example.

I'm, personally, a little sad that it has ended and the way it ended as well, but it was unexpected for me in a way. That in itself is also good and in time I think I'll come to completely accept it. In the end, only the author knew what Keima really wanted and if Chihiro was the girl he didn't have to wear a persona for, then that's the way it worked.

Although we all know we wanted a true harem ending. It's not like Keima can't keep up with several women at once. A person with his multitasking ability could court an entire all-girl school.

For one i appreciate this ending Exactly because it's NOT a harem ending. I would have bey even if Keima had been knocked over by a truck and died. Everything, literally everything but a harem ending.

I have great esteem for Keima for making a choice, because he really cared about all the girls, and chosing one and freeing all the others is common sense and human kindness. If he went for the "harem" he would have treated them as 2d characters, and not as real people.

He could have collected them all like trophies, he treated them as human beings: this is why he's the Kind God of Conquest.

What I'm really happy about is that he ended up with Chihiro. I was really rooting for her ever since she was introduced because she was just my type. Honestly, I never thought he would have ended up with her because I was led to believe it would end inconclusively in some harem ending. However, I'm quite satisfied with how it ended. There was something lacking about it, but I just can't place it. Overall, I'm happy. As a celebration, I'm going to reread the entire series again!

This ending was just, sad, yet, not sad. My ONLY complaints about this ending would be:

1. Chihiro? Really? While he IS right about the "don't do the harem end" I still think Chihiro is a poor choice.

2. Haqua was sort of excluded in the last chapters

3. I've probably got some others when I have time to think enough, for now I shall cry on behalf of Doku TT_TT

I seriously hoped Keima would end up with Dokurou TT_TT

I just wished it was stretched out more, it felt too rushed.

I remember around the time the ship was destroyed there was news that 25 is the final Volume. I decided to save up the chapters until the series was complete.

Only to return disappointed that there was only about 7 unread chapters till the end.

And it certainly felt rushed.

...

I also think an ending where the Goddesses are released and destroy Vintage and return to keeping Old Hell sealed away. Everybody including New Hell's demons forget about what happened and the only one that remembers is Keima.

Last page has him excitedly playing his games, with the last panel showing tear drops on one of the consoles. Which is left for the reader to guess why he could be crying.

From joy or sorrow.

..

That's my opinion. :P

...

Having said that, I still see the series as amazing and intend to re-read at some point but because of the rushed ending it unfortunately falls short of 'Masterpiece' class.

perhaps after re-reading it my opinion will change, though I doubt it.

Just ended to read the manga yesterday, yet I have some questions, maybe any of you can answer them:

1) What was the reason of Diana getting her wings back when she asked Tenri to do something at the end of the Ayumi's arc? I think is somewhat related with the letter Tenri recieved from Keima, but there is not something that would make Diana nor her happy in the third pard at the point of getting some or all of her power back, or I'm misjudging the letter? Since at the end of the chapter that Diana asked Keima to kiss her (In the room full of books where Haqua was as well), we can see that actually Diana DID got her wings back after that.

2) Who really was Elsie? after re-reading the cap 266-267 still got no clue. She said something about getting revived by Dokuro, so the Satyr/Vintage/Some organization like that couldnt get her support, but after meeting her sister in the past, she started to talk about her past to Keima, as she remember that her parents got killed in the war, then she gets adopted by Rimyuel family. I think she was the "weapon" that Satyr was trying to use, but im not sure at all.
