Biography: Hmm... Where to start? Okay. A bit of background. So technically I guess, I'm from the Ex Miscellania house. Though I don't know what they'd say about that. I never asked. You see, a long, looong, time ago my family, and a couple others families, decided it would be a fun idea to run away and live in some forest in the armpit of nowhere. Good move guys. Thanks. But you might have noticed I'm not in a forest right now. That might be a little clue about the coming story.

So, some old relatives of mine ran off and vanished amongst the trees in some big ass foresty place. Whether the main house just didn't care, or they actually couldn't find them, I had no idea. I found out the truth later of course, and that was... surprising, to say the least. Turned out the family leaders had made a new space out of their barriers. Made, like, a pocket dimension of some kind. Oh, but that's a bit of a spoiler. I didn't find out about that until I was older.

Anyway they had their own place, and then they decided on some rules. They were all a pain in the ass, but the only relevant one right now is the rule about not going too far from home. If you leave, the main house will get you. That was the rumour. The fairy tale to scare us as little kiddies. You guys get the boogeyman, we had THE MAIN HOUSE. Ooo, scary. I never fell for it, I knew the main house didn't really exist. So I obviously set about breaking this rule every chance I got. Which led to the moment you're probably most interested in.

So yeah, that was where and how I grew up. Doing my best to break the rules day after day. Doing the magic training. Listening to the ramblings. "Ooo~ ours is the best magic. We're all a bunch of special little snowflakes." Blah-de-blah. They were no more special than anyone else with magic. I'm sure everyone thinks their magic is the best. But anyway, I spent my days doing boring stuff. I grew up some. I practiced magic. I got lost in the woods. I ran around barefoot having a swell old childish time with the other kids. It was probably similar to growing up anywhere else, though it lacked a certain... variety. It was so repetitive. Day after day of the same stuff. Like a record skipping. Hell, even the rain ran like clockwork. That should have been a clue really about the whole barrier world thing.

So, one day, I was out on one of my expeditions into the forests. They were a fun way to break the rules, skip some of the daily preaching, and kill some time all in one go. It was all win win. Until I walked into something I hadn't seen before. I recognized straight away that it was a fancy bit of barrier magic. I thought someone was trying to hide something out there. You can imagine the idiotic grin on my face as I proceeded to bulldoze my way through it with every single bit of magical talent I had.

And then I found myself in the center of a field. Not a tree in sight. Looking back only revealed a... snap, or a fracture. Just floating there, like the air was cracked glass. And now I'm sure you can imagine that same stupid grin from before being replaced with pure horror as I realized what had happened. Next thing I know, there was a strange noise, the thing looked like it shattered, or closed, or something faded, I really don't know how to explain it. But then there was nothing. Just me. Lost and alone in a freaking field with not a trace of the forest I'd lived my life in.

Soon after that the boogeymen from the main house of Ex Miscellania found me. Those were bad times for poor old Rudy. But it's been about fifteen years or so since then. I've almost managed to fully convince myself that the barrier sealed itself back up instead of imploding. And I've gotta say, other than the whole 'not knowing if I accidentally destroyed everyone and everything I ever knew' thing, I do prefer being out in this world. There's so much stuff to see and do. So many things that just didn't exist back in the forest. Like cats. Cats are cool. I didn't know they were a thing at all.

Other: Rudy is generally unable to follow rules. He can't help it. It's just the way he is. If he sees a rule his first thought is to break it.

Rudy loves anything new. Anything. A new style of coat, a new flower, a new animal. He got so excited by his first wasps-nest that he nearly ended up in hospital trying to find out what the mysterious honey was that they guarded. He'd been slightly misinformed.

Bio: Kadence was born the son of two American farmers, and lived a simple life along the Southern Marches helping his family make a living. Around his Freshman year of High School Kadence found something that had truly interested him... World History. It was his favorite class despite the low quality education it was, and he was keenly aware that it was subpar. This interest carried on into his personal life where he studied his family, and tracked down the Carron family history all the way to the old Frankish Empire created by Charelemagne. In fact, he was a descendent of one of Charlemagne's very own Paladins, the foremost warriors of the Franks.
Ensnared by the idea of a noble warrior fighting for his liege, Kadence managed to acquire a modern francisca from a local blacksmith after describing the specifications. Every day after school Kadence trained in the use of the iconic axes, as thrown weapons in the forest behind his families' farm. Kadence self-taught himself French through text-books acquired from travelling merchants; sought to embody the ideal paladin. While playing with creating designs on his francisca and a kite shield he had made, Kadence found that one of his Francisca acted differently after he marked it. It seemed to hit it's mark more often and he found that it curved smoothly and with ease, but only when he wanted it to. Testing the same design out on different axes had the same result. Kadence demonstrated this strange technique to his friends, but word spread, and a representative of House Verditius came to tell the young Kadence just what he had discovered. It was a ridiculous notion that marking on the francisca had such a result, but the notion made much more sense if the thrower happened to have the potential to be a mage. The representative took Kadence in with permission from his family and whisked him away to House Verditius; but not before his parents gifted him Charlemagne's blade, Joyeuse. Kadence never got the chance to ask his parents how they managed to get such a thing, and decided that everyone should have their secrets.

- In striving to live up to his family's old name, Kadence has grown up to be an Honorable, Loyal, and Kind man who lives to help others.
- While certainly not a master by any means, Kadence's skill with his axes as well as Joyeuse is nothing to scoff at.
- Kadence's body was physically conditioned at a young age from working on a farm, as well as hauling his shield and axes around during practice.
- Kadence enjoys learning, and is usually quick on the uptake, however...

- ...A subpar education doesn't exactly give him a good starting point.
- Kadence can be just a bit too prideful
- Despite his training and conditioning mitigating it somewhat, Kadence is naturally clumsy.

Biography:

I am William Castor Von Leviathos, son to Azariah, brother of the great head of Tytalus and to lady Hildegards. I am the first and the proper Legitimate son to Azariath, though I do have a little half twin brother born to my mothers servant.

There are tales of my fathers old womanizing ways and how their relationship came to be but I was always more interested in learning how my father convinced his brother to allow both to be considered his legitimate children. Though the stories change and I doubt he will ever speak truth of how.

 

Even with the complications regarding our births early life was not difficult, in fact it was rather simple, we would learn certain skills from our father while both of us had a tutor who taught us the necessary things which of course included magic.

Though considering complications around my family you would expect something more right? life was way too easy for such early complications. So with time a new complication arose.

While learning magic I discovered my primary element was Darkness, an element both abnormal and looked down upon within the family as it would seem weak and almost pathetic…. Though that may be because there is little information of the element for magic purposes… I will show them they are wrong… Oh look I might be getting a bit off track.

 

Of course this wasn't just a simple one case complication, my brother had the opposite element.

This caused both of us to be looked down upon and even our father had received criticism as some pointed to him saying things about it was punishment for his arrogance and selfish ways.

All of it is ridiculous, how could you blame the parents for it? they didn’t even possess the elements. This would be well and good if it wasn’t for the heads wife and the child the produced, Sarah. She had natural talent from a young age and thought only about power like her mother.

 

After Complications kept arising one after another through time it came to the inevitable talk of succession, of course even though I had legitimate claim I was too ‘weak’ and Sarah is the clear top candidate… I do not see this ending well though… If only someone like my brother who was kind and compassionate but could still be level headed was the head.

So this is how I decided to live the next part of my life, finding a way to putting him onto the heads seat.

 

Though being Looked down upon and belittled was not all bad though, in fact it made it easy to slip through places being ignored by higher ups and into places where rumours could spread below, I also picked up my role perfectly if i do say so myself. I would find ways to torment people, learn rumours to use as weapons, then when someone needed some form of help my brother would stop me, for that was the kind of person he was, kind but fair.

On a side note its actually kind of funny how people started blaming our personalities on our inferior elements, I’m sure a few tried using this to belittle our powers more.

 

Though this alone was not enough, I needed power, no we both needed power beyond what little we knew about our magic, Basic manipulation and solidification? pointless sure i have trained so I can use darkness like a sword or claws, but still pointless in the bigger picture, there must be something greater to our powers for they had no true definition…. yet.

 

That was when I, no we both received a Information of a place where we could learn in safety… away from the prying eyes of nobles.

I cannot comprehend why people insist on painting my life in a tragic light. Yes, I am not a legitimate child of the House of Leviathos. Yes, my mother was nothing but a servant to the lady of the house. Yes, the element I house within this body is abnormal and is looked down upon by the rest of House Tytalus, noble magi who value strength above all else. But no, my life was not miserable. Far from it.

 

For you misguided souls, led to perceive me a child to pity, I shall impart the story of my life.

 

My father is Azariah Camus von Leviathos, High Mage of Tytalus, second only to the head of the main family. He is a great magician, a bright savant, and above all else, a kind soul that everyone loves. At the age of 19 he was betrothed to Lady Hildegarde, and at the age of 22, the two were wed. It was then that father and mother first met each other.

 

My mother, Kanon, was Lady Hildegarde’s personal retinue and childhood friend. Having heard that the man who would soon marry her precious Lady was a womanizer, she decided to pay him a visit and test his fidelity. On the day before the wedding, she dressed herself in a dress identical to those of Lady Hildegarde, and slipped into Azariah Camus’ study.

 

It was a mistake on her part. For the face she saw that day, the voice that talked to her; would soon take a precious part in her heart. The seed of love had planted its root deeply in her heart. And this troubled her immensely. She knew that her love was forbidden, and she would have to kill it before it bloomed in full. Yet, she found herself unable to do so.

 

After the wedding, Lady Hildegarde moved into her husband’s house for good. My mother Kanon was to resume her duty as the Lady’s personal retinue and was also sent to live in Leviathos Mansion. It was both a blessing and a torture for her. She was given the bliss of living close to her beloved, and at the same time, was suffering from immense guilt.

 

In the end, she could take the mental burden no more, and fell ill. Nursing her, were Lady Hildegarde and Lord Azariah: the two people she loved the most in the whole world. Happy as she were, this only served to torment her further. The kindness the two showered her with, only served to make her love for Azariah, the love she desperately tried to hide and kill; and her guilt of yearning for something she should not have; to grow stronger than ever.

 

It was then that she realized that she could not keep her feelings a secret anymore. One day, once her body was well enough, she confessed her love, her sin, to Azariah and Hildegarde. She had decided to end her life for her sin, yet the two in front of her stopped her.

 

Instead of condemning her for her audacity, Lady Hildegarde gave her blessing to mother’s love. Father too, accepted and returned her feeling in full. The three had come to an understanding of each other’s feelings that night, and they embraced tight.

Nine months later, my brother William and I were born into this world. A pair of twins, brought into this world at the same time from two mothers; he from Lady Hildegarde, and I from my mother Kanon. Through father’s entreat, the House of Leviathos gave us their blessing.

 

Our early childhood was what I would describe as heavenly. My mother loved me, and even Lady Hildegarde treated me as if I were her own son. Father was kind and supportive. He would often show his magic to us, and teach us about the legends and lores surrounding our world of magic. He was truly the one person I admire the most.

 

My brother, too, treated me kindly. Big and strong as he was, he never bullied me in the least. Even with his position as the legitimate heir to House Leviathos he sees me, a mere son of a servant, as his peer. Day by day, he would share his thoughts with me, and he would not hesitate to listen to my opinions.

 

If anything, it was my own incompetence that brought me unhappiness. As you may have known, the element I harbor was not the fire of Tytalus. While I could create light, I could not create the heat of a flame no matter how hard I try. I was truly a disgrace. My father taught me everything about magic, and I failed him miserably.

 

Yet, never once did he lose hope of me. Instead, he encouraged me to keep on learning. He told me that my element was special, and people condemned me not because I am weak, but because my powers are unknown to them. He told me to prove my worth to the others, to shine as brightly as how I am in his eyes.

 

So tell me, o misguided fellows, which part of my life is sad? Do you think my father sent me to this academy to keep me away from him? No. He sent me here so that I could grow. And this time, I will not fail him. I will gain both power and wisdom, and one day, I will use them to help my brother seize the position of the Head from Sarah.

Biography:

Jamie grew up in an orphanage next to a hospice for terminal patients. Too angry and harsh to make friends, she frequently found herself speaking to the people waiting out the short remainder of their lives in her spare time. Over time the hospice staff noticed something peculiar. The girl - whom they'd begun calling Oscar the Grouch because of her usually aggressive demeanour - always spoke to residents shortly before their death. Before they went to sleep for the last time she would approach them and being abnormally friendly would listen to the person's stories. It was as if Jamie knew the persons time was up. After two dozen consecutive instances of Jamie's visits heralding a patients last breath, the hospice staff started treating her talks with patients as a sign to call in their next of kin.
 
The story of the strange girl who could see death was passed to a friend of one of the nurses, a priest who often came to speak to the dying. The priest, who had ties to the House of Flambeau, kept close eye on Jamie. For two years he kept watch over her without her knowledge. He almost gave up when he saw no instances of her healing another; it seemed the only interest she had was in the dying. It wasn't until he happened to witness a car accident as he was leaving the hospice that the hypothesis he'd nearly surrendered was confirmed. A man had been shattered by the vehicle crash, broken ribs poking out through his shirt. Quickly the priest organised bystanders to get doctors from the hospice and call in ambulances. Out of the corner of his eye he saw movement and turned to see the girl called Oscar lean down over the man. She lay a hand on his head and another slid across his chest. Her eyes were glazed and aimed forward; her hand slowly moved across the man's torso as if it were seeking something. After a moment it suddenly stopped and she pushed her hand down onto his body hard. The man thrashed limply for a moment. Jamie got up from her kneeling position and walked away from the incident.
 
The man was found by emergency room doctors to have no life threatening traumas; his organs were all in fine shape and he suffered only minor broken bones in his arms.
 
The priest knew this for what it was; the girl was of House Flambeau. Perhaps a throwback from a lost family member. He contacted them immediately.

Other:
Oscar is called that because of her attitude towards most people; it's short for Oscar the Grouch. She's strangely very friendly to people close to death.
 
She has the ability to tell when someone is dying and when concentrating can tell what they are dying from

Biography:
Anatoli's story begins many years ago in Russia.  His father was Nikolai "Grozny" Knyazev, black sheep of the famed Knyazev soldier family, and like many members of house Quaesitor, he was mercenary.  His longest contract was to be the bodyguard and general enforcer of a Flambeau family.  Hey served in this capacity for over a decade.  This final year he served them, the family decided to go to Egypt, which was in the midst of a civil war.  This situation grew worse, and one night he and the others guards were attacked by the government forces for being collaborators.  The battle was bloody and only Nico and one other guard survived.  Nico chose to cancel his contract after getting the family off of the continent. 

Following this, he went to America to find a new life.  He found it in a woman named, unfortunately, Lucero Miranda, also known as Lucifer by hospital staff.  They fell madly in love, and two years later Anatoli was born. 

He grew up living living near his mother's family, so he never felt lonely.  With his father was overseas working and his mother's hours as a nurse, this was a blessing.  He was a bright child, excelling in languages and could speak Spanish, English, and Russian by the time he was 14.  He was moved ahead a grade due to a clerical error and was graduating ahead of his friends by a year.  His father wasn't keen on this, in his memory high school was the last time before he became a magic mercenary.  Rather than force his son ahead, he pulled his son from school.  Without consulting his wife.  Draw your own conclusions.

He and Anatoli's maternal grandfather conspired, and left the country for south America.  They spent a year traveling the countries on the continent.  Again this was done without consulting Lucifer.  Neither man was smart, but Nico could always get away with murder.

During the year his grandfather would look after him when Nico had to fulfill a contract.  When Nico was there, he and Anatoli would break off the beaten path and go exploring.  This was one of the happiest times in his life, he and his father would hike through jungle and mountains all day, sleep beneath stars at night. 

When Anatoli returned to school, he had a kickass tan and much life experience.  He graduated after an uneventful year.  Not wanting to continue with school, he joined the military.  For Nico, this was a source of pride and worry.  His family, the magic side and the mundane, had long been on the battlefield.  Depending on which members you looked at, it was a history of greed and bloodlust, or a history of service.  He had never told Anatoli about his magic heritage.  He knew he should, but he couldn't.

After four years of service, the latter half being in the Army Rangers, Anatoli left the military.  He visited home briefly, and without realize it or being informed, he followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a mercenary specializing in finding and retrieving missing people.  He rarely takes multiple jobs in the same area, preferring to travel often. For a reason he hasn't understood, his last name seems to be respected in the darker parts of the world.

• Former Army Ranger, served with The 75th Ranger Regiment.  Held rank of Sergeant First Class.
• Never goes into a mission or dangerous situation without his lucky ball cap
• Has the almost psychic ability to find missing people, things, or information.  Called Finder by his military buddies because of.
• Speaks fluent English, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, and Vietnamese.  Familiar with Japanese, French, and Japanese.
• Contrary to stereotypes as a Hispanic of Mexican decent and a man of Russian descent, but holding with stereotypes of Americans, he prefers whisky.
• Has no knowledge of his father's family, and they have no knowledge of him. Yet.
• Uses non lethal weapons and tricks whenever possible during contract work.  No reason to get authorities looking into him for murder.
• He uses the word “wild” often when speaking.
