So, are you following the super slow LN translation, reading the web novel, or only following the manga?

Also, there is a rumor going around about an anime, but while that would make me happy, a couple of hours of my googlefu do not reveal anything about it. It would make me happy, I just found no evidence other than some guys saying that there was an announcement without linking to it.

As for why I am saying the LN is being translated in slow motion... well that's because it is.

If they uploaded scans of the novel, I would translate about a chapter every 2 hours or so. I worked on translating MT, but sadly the translators already working on it whined to the project manager because I was uploading 2 chapters per day and making them look bad, because they didin't like my nazi grammar-like behavior going back and spell checking their chapters, and such.

"There not coming this way" its WRONG. It is either "They're not coming this way" or  "They are not coming this way".

Honestly, if someone takes the time to fix tiiiiny little mistakes here and there on my works, I wouldn't whine and cry and bitch about it, I would simply send a message saying "Thank you".

Anyway, the web novel first, since it was, well... first

In the web novel, Momon is a lot more calculating and a lot less showy. There is a scene where he guts a goblin with a shortsword, cutting him from shoulder to stomach, breaking through muscle and bone as if it was butter using a shortsword.

In the Light Novel instead, he is a LOT more showy. In the exact same fight, he instead goes over towards the ogres backing the goblins (the ogres are not in the WN) and slices them in half in a single blow, cutting them like wheat while using a huge greatsword on each hand with an ease that would make Guts green with envy. In short, it's a lot more "generic shonen #87977978."

The manga so far... I can't tell if it is following the LN or the WN, but if I had to guess, I would say the LN.

The LN does have some merits, tho. Clearly, the author has revised his work and streamlined stuff. I wonder if some characters I like from the WN will make their appearances, however.

So, how are you liking the manga so far? are you enjoying it more than the LN? are you reading the WN?

-Sorry for bad English...

I am following manga and LN but not WN. I can't read Japanese anyway but WN don't have Albedo so i won't read it even if i know Japanese  :P  Manga seems rushed but maybe this is because of LN's snail pace. If i ignore LN's glorious illustrations i enjoyed manga's first chapter.

So you will translate if you find raws... Wow you made my day man :D probably you know this already but jcafe ( http://www.jcafe24.net/index.php?topic=45440.0 )has vol 4-5 Japanese raws. If someone provide vol 3 raws, will you seriously start translating this?

So I was linked to this thread from another forum... First off, the scanlation of the LN is "super" slow mainly because those translating are doing so from chinese translations. These translations have only just completed translating the japanese  third volume, which is now being, I believe, fan-translated from chinese to english.

There are about 8 japanese volumes out today, and no english fan translations I know of are JP-ENG, only CHN-ENG. If you really are as fast in translating japanese (is what you're implying right?) to english, and being a grammar nazi- I'd be overjoyed.

Too many sloppy translations out there ruining potentially good LN. Appreciate the effort, honestly but it just gets on my nerves and kills the immersion so many times.

Anyways, if you are as good as you say, I hope you'll manage getting your hands on the volumes and start translating!

I'd suggest looking into this -> http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=127729

I sincerely hope you are serious in fan-translating the Overlord LN from JP-ENG, as it is my-without-question favourite LN out there. Hell, I can imagine editing whatever small mistakes you make in translating the chapters.

Chinese? aww crap. I have no idea of chinese. Well, if I can find a good scan of the novel, I will try and see what I can do anyway.

Just so we are clear, I would like to translate the LN, not the WN (im currently reading the WN but honestly its too stuffed with pointless stuff. Its as if the author was trying his hardest to make it longer).

As for translating manga, I could read it but thats it. Can't redraw/edit/clean/etc

I'd like to help translate the LN, but from chinese...? damn man, I got no idea

There's actually sort of 2 groups working on overlord. Skythewood is the one who translates from chinese to english, and the other group, either imotolicious or sort of connected to them, asked him to do volume 2( I think they did volume 1, though I thought they did japanese to english, I don't know really). Anyway, I don't think chinese is out for volume 3 but I'm pretty sure the people that did volume 1 were going to continue volume 3. Anyway, translations take time. MT can go much faster but are often of more questionable quality in the translation. Anyway, there are purists who only like real translations and some who are fine with mt. As a leecher I don't complain about anything I get.

I really love this series. I have read what little of there is of the LN and the manga, and I really like both. The LN really gets into the story, but I just love the expressions they have in the manga. For example, the face Albedo makes when she sees Mare with the ring, priceless. Though it's a bit disappointing that the translation is at a snails pace, I'm still eagerly waiting for the next chapters. Anichart has also put up Overlord in the TBA section.

I prefer LN.
Manga is too chaotic.
Reading manga after I read the LN is a real hassle.
