Pirates!

Pirates are everywhere in this world of ours. They are wanted criminals, charming rogues, masters of their particular crafts and folk heroes all rolled up into one. It's not surprising that so many people set out onto the seas to find their fame and fortune. The rewards are much too tempting. But it takes a special kind of person to beat the risks that come along side the rewards. Especially if you dare brave the most dangerous waters of The Grand Line.

Legends say that nobody who reached the end of the Grand Line had ever returned until the king of pirates did it. Some say it's a paradise you wouldn't want to leave. Some say that all but the king died. The pirate king himself never told a soul about what he found. Personally I reckon there's no way some of those people could have been killed. I met them. Some of the most famous ones. Bounties as big as their boats and power like nothing you've imagined. No way they got killed if you ask me. But something happened.

Anyways, the only man to ever return later became known as The Pirate King. The World Government eventually managed to capture him for execution. But just before he died he put out an open challenge to the world. Take to the seas. Sail the Grand Line. Find his treasure. Wealth beyond belief was waiting. And everyone and their mums wanted to be the first to get there and claim it. That was when the great golden age of piracy began. A pirates life has never been better.

Just to make things clear, in my head this will run along a similar vein to Peyton's Echelon RP. And when I say similar I mean I am completely and utterly ripping him off without mercy, but with a One Piecey/Piratey theme. Updates would be pretty short and sweet, but quick paced and hopefully fun. You'll start out weak and have a crappy ship that can be improved eventually. You'll be able to find or buy parts for it and such. As you sail the seas and the Grand Line you'll be able to improve your skills/bounty/wealth and what have yous. Maybe you'll even find some devil fruits. Eventually you'll be a force to be reckoned with. And maybe you can find the pirate kings treasure? Who knows.

Ships Info

Ship Types: It's not the size of the ship the pirate is in that counts. It's the size of the pirate the ship is on. Or something. I think I heard that once. Anyways, I will add more to this just sort of whenever. The lower down the list, the better the ship is.

• River Skipper: Honestly, this may as well be an over-sized row boat with a bed sheet for a sail. You're not impressing anybody with this thing.
• Poor-man's Retreat: Bigger than a river skipper, but still considered to be small. At least it has room for a couple more cannons, and it has an actual cargo hold. That's nice.
• Timber Shiverer: This model is actually big enough to not look ridiculous with a figure head. I know right? Awesome.
• Initiation Creation: There's an actual downstairs to this one. A couple of rooms for doing a bit of whatever you want. This is pretty much the standard 'you are now officially average' ship. People will start taking you seriously if they see you in one of these bad boys.

Ship Upgrades: None for right now. I'll add them as people get them. I guess this'll basically become a shopping catalog when your in towns and such. It'll be cannons, sails, masts and the like. Things that'll give your ship a bit of something special.

Item Tiers

From swords to ships, cannons to hull plating, super awesome sails to flintlock pistols, everything has a quality level. A tier if you will. For example a tier 2 sword will be better than a tier 1 sword. It may be sharper or tougher or have jewels in it's hilt or whatever, but something will set it apart from a regular old tier 1 sword. The same can be said for most anything in this world. Some things are simply better. And you know you only want the bestest, rarest, most ass kickingest stuff don't you? Well here's a handy list of what you can expect from the Tiers:

Tier 1 [Ordinary] ~ The stuff you can find in any market.
Tier 2 [Uncommon] ~ The stuff you'd be lucky to find in that one overly friendly foreign guys market stall.
Tier 3 [Specialist] ~ Things you'd find in specialty shops that cater to specific purposes. Real shops. Like. With doors and stuff. Wow.
Tier 4 [Rare] ~ Things that specialty shops try to out bid each other on. The real big earners.
Tier 5 [Collector] ~ These are the kind of things that rich people pay stupid sums of money for so they can put it on a shelf and just look at it for hours. Very high quality.
Tier 6 [Legendary] ~ Things in this realm tend to be a higher Tier for more than just their quality. These are items that have a history. The sails of a famous pirates ship for example.
Tier 7 [Mythical] ~ Things that have achieved, or have been used to achieve, incredible stuff. Items of impeccable quality, with a history to match. Some of these things have literally helped forge the world as we know it.
Tier 8 [Dream-like] ~ Actually seeing one of these items is pretty much unheard of. These are the sort of things the great Pirate King and his crew might once have used.

The Fantastic Captain Fredo!
Captain of the Horizon pirates. A narcistic and foolish man who tries to flirt with anything that moves. He thinks he'd the best thing since anything ever and his fanclub doesn't exactly help keep his ego in check. Using his natural charm he's managed to gather himself a decent crew, but that's all he has going for him. By himself he's useless. He aims to be the Pirate King one day, so that all will know how awesome his is.

Dennis
A very large man with a distinctive laugh. Duoh-duoh-duoha! The big guy likes to hang out in Hara recruiting crew members by beating them up in taverns. He also considers himself something of a talent scout, because the people who manage to overcome his recruiting methods tend to make it big in the pirate world at some point.

Hara
A city built upon a bridge vast bridge. The locals, and repeat visiters, know it as the city of beginnings. It is said that the most beautiful sunrises in the world can be witnessed from the edge of the city, which makes it a big tourist location. Not only that, but it was also the city in which the legendary Pirate King, the only man to conquer the Grand Line and return, was executed. Because of this it has a special place in the hearts of pirates. And it's not unusual for aspiring pirates to make a pilgrimage of sorts to the city before setting sail.

Davy Jones' Locker

The graveyard, for fallen allies, enemies, ships and cute animals. Once in a while you can come here and take a look and you'll feel all nostalgic. You'll remember all about that one guy you killed that time. Maybe he didn't really deserve it in hindsight, but it was fun none-the-less. Or that enemy who you had so much trouble with back then. You'd mop the floor with him now. That's a fun thought.

We start out with no money and no bounty?
Yes. You are unknown and broke at the start. This RP is about starting as a penniless, unskilled pirate and seeing how far you can get in the weird and wonderful world of pirating.

Can we get Devil Fruits?!
Yes, but you can't start with one. Again, you are supposed to start out a weak and lowly random guy. But if you mention to me in the OOC that you would like one at some point, you will get probably one at some point.

Can we be Marines?
No. You are pirates. Pirates are fun. This is a pirate RP about pirates. Why would you want to be not-a-pirate? That's just insane.

Do we have to be human?
No.

Age: ~Whatever.
Personality: ~You are a newborn pirate. Not literally. But you aren't a badass yet. It would be odd if you are decimating ships in the past and then suddenly struggle with an average mook. This is the start of your adventure. And the start of your story. So I've decided to skip the whole History part, and made the personality section instead, it also makes it a little less sad if you die. Which can happen. This doesn't have to be long. You can feel free to allude to stuff if you want, but I'd prefer to have back stories revealed through the RP itself.
Talents: ~Your character will start with Talents. You can have 2 of them. They are things your character will have a natural aptitude for. This helps make everyone a bit more varied, and I'll be taking these into account when giving skills and such. As examples, things such as "Strength," "Speed," "Swimming," "Climbing," or "Swordsmanship" count as talents.
Skills: ~I'll give you skills at certain milestones and such. Mostly connected to your power level. But if something big happens, you may get a bonus one relating to how you deal with it. If I notice you using ranged weapons/attacks a lot, I might consider it to be enough training to earn a Skill related to those weapons. Etc.

Crew: ~ The name of your crew, or the crew you are in.
Position: ~What job do you do in the crew? Are you Captain? The Chef? A Swordsman? Maybe you are the resident Stand-up Comedian? Put it here.
Level: 1
Bounty: $0
Wealth: $0
Inventory: ~ Things you keep on your person at all times. You can have a couple of random things. A sword or whatever.

Ship ~ If you are crewing up with each other you only get one ship and it's the captains.

Been looking for one since Jabber's One Piece RP (that went nowhere on batoto) over at roleplayerguild died when he had to leave. I think I'll import my character here. Though, I doubt my Yamaoroshi sword or style can be carried over. Oh well, guess I just have to get lucky I come across a wazamono or Kin'emon or something. xD

 

But we all start out with no bounty or wealth, right? Obvious question is obvious but just to get it out of the way.

Also, can we join/be apart of NPC pirate crews or nay?

I ask incase not a whole lot of people join the rp and thus people turn up a pathetic amount to their crews where they'd only have 1-2 members in their crews.

Personality:

 

Elijah is a very carefree individual. He often fails to see the seriousness of situations, causing those around him to never know whether this stems from his simple stupidity or overall negligent attitude. Nothing anyone says ever seems to faze him be it threats, news, or even an incredibly powerful enemy. There doesn't seem to be anything that can provoke him into showing any kind of change in his usual carefree, smiling face. This demeanor isn't only for show though, because of his nature, he is incredibly confident in his own abilities. It is a trait that he hopes to attract other pirates with to join him in his up and coming pirate crew. Elijah also has an enthusiastic side to him when it comes to things that he finds interesting. That said if there is anything that could change his carefree expression, it’s a cool move, weapon, or anything that would be dubbed as awesome.

 

He is a keen fighter, having a great knack for fighting, which is something he was born with. Sadly, Elijah often procrastinates in everything he does: he could be in the midst of battle and somehow find the time and place to crack open a cold drink and swap stories. Miraculously, this behavior still breeds results for the ambitious pirate. 

In battle and other such situations Elijah remains calm, but tries to keep a “cool” aura about him. He enjoys coming up with random names for his moves and utilizes a very flashy fighting style. 



 

Like every human in this world Elijah has a couple of weaknesses: Pretty women and good food. By no means does this mean he turns into a blithering idiot around either of these; it simply means these are what makes him almost uncontrollably happy or for lack of a better word, distracted....

Personality: Calm and collected. No matter what is thrown at him, Hardly anything seems to faze him. While he mostly keeps to himself and seems like nothing evokes an emotional response from him, there are some certain 'subjects' that will bring forth a very violent response from him. Not one to talk a while lot, when he does, he can't seem to help teasing and pushing the buttons of others. Despite his usual personality, he has a love of fighting, showing traces of a powerful bloodlust, considered to be a bit of an enigma, people find it quite difficult to figure him out. Not knowing who or what the real him is like.
