How big is the role of romance in this manga? I know it's shounen and battle and all that, but i like good romance, I'm guessing it's not really important but i just wanna check with you guys.

I'd say the romance is present, consistent, and enjoyable (but not satisfying), but I find that it mostly serves as plot elements. I cannot think of any point where you'd see two characters together and think "serious relationship."

You could also say this is the typical shounen pitfall where you have characters that obviously like one another very much but since it's published for a shounen magazine, the author prefers to focus on the action/adventure story rather than "slow down" for a love story.

I also wondered about that part, and I learnt for the next time I see "romance" in any given shounen to watch the fuck out from expecting anything from the manga, although Medaka Box is relatively persistent with its 'psychological' narrative, they actually do explore the emotional side of the character's personalities...But, as said, for the most part it is to develop the fightin' adventure with fists and combat-styles rather actually giving it any time slots. That is to say, the emotions exist to make the fists hurt more....Which, really, is surprisingly common in shounens now that I think about it.
