Not sure if we're allowed to post this kind of stuff here, but I'm going to do it anyways. I'm creating this thread since I have nothing else to do at the moment.

 

Anyways, I didn't realise this till I looked up the group on batoto's scanlation group, which had the link to the group's website posted!

Just to get the ball rolling, I've noticed a few things straight off the bat:

• First, the site itself seems to have a second 'widget' bar of some sort, but one that's completely blank/empty. I find it slightly annoying. It might be there because my screen width is fairly large (1920 x 1080), but then the entire panel itself should be shrunk to fit the size of the content wrapper and sidebar, rather than stretching along without bringing the content with it. Other than that, I love the theme! It is really pretty! 

 

• The second point I thought I'd bring up is our google ranking. At the time of me posting this, we were at 11th place (top of 2nd page) in the google search for the group's entire name "one time scans". This isn't really all that bad, but I think it should be closer to the top 3 items, and at the very least on the first page (top 10). The reason being that when people (like me) looked for the website, we would probably assume that it doesn't exist after not seeing it on the first page. 

 

On the other hand, we're not even in the top 120 items listed for when someone searches "manga scan group". I think it's a pretty awesome goal to aim to get in that list, perhaps in the top 20? The pages in the top 20 don't really look like they've designed themselves for that generic search, but rather happen to "be on a popular" website type of deal. 

 

Anyways, what are the thoughts of everyone else? Is there something else you guys want to discuss?

Hey thanks for the notice on the website!

 

It was me that actually made it. The problem with the second widget is that there is indeed a second one there which is pretty much useless. Since I am using worldpress the theme came like that. I was planing to try and remove it but cause of time I still haven't looked into it yet.

 

As for search engines if you search "onetimescans" it will be the first one obviously but for "one time scans" it seems the virus scans win! But even like that the website can be accessed since the 4th result is our google+ profile.

 

In general I am not entirely sure how I can improve that besides having more people visiting the site.

So, it's not really visits but links.  The more websites that link to your website, the better your search score.  And, the more popular the website, the larger the impact the link has on your score.  Also, Google has put in new ranking criteria that penalizes you if your site isn't mobile friendly.

Yep that is true. For a few months now the webiste has been improved a lot in the ranking. Nowdays the first 4-5 links are for our website and the rest are links to our google+ twitter and the mangaupdates page for our group.
