Here goes, who's your favorite character and why? I was missing a thread like that! :)

Aside from Kaneki (my favorite), lots of characters are to my liking... But I think choosing Hinami over them is possible :) Right?

Too lazy to sort reasons, so...

Many of the characters have actually won my admiration, but it is most certainly * Kaneki.
From normal human being to * unique individual...
Kaneki is attractive and has * his own impact on the rest of the characters, and the seriousness * to protect his friends and who are important for him ...
Psychological journey, and a little philosophical, * inside Kaneki towards his true self * covers half the fun follow Tokyo Ghoul,
As well as the stages of * his personality development and his relationships with the rest of the characters ... Hinami of Tokyo Ghoul worth mentioning too ***

Personally I think Ishida created complex characters and they are all very interesting, in my opinion, but there are still some I like more than the others.

What's interesting mostly is that the story of Tg IS Kaneki's story, which means almost all the characters have a link to him.

Hinami is probably the first ghoul who really made him understand that ghouls were not all crazy and monsters.

I mean, before meeting her, all he had seen was Touka killing to eat, Nishiki trying to kill HIM, but Hinami and her mother couldn't kill to eat. Also Hinami couldn't go to school because she couldn't blend into human society. And her bond with Kaneki is part of what kept him sane after Aogiri.

... I think.

I'm glad she' still there in :Re. I just hope that Eto didn't change her too much!

Besides Kaneki, my second favorite would probably be Tsukiyama. His personality is unique and you wouldn't probably find any character like him. Sure he was a trash in the beginning but I liked how started to actually care for Kaneki even if it was in a twisted way and. Not to mention he's the pretty funny and a reliable guy.

Personally, I'm fond of the two "main duos", Kaneki & Touka and Amon & Akira, because each duo represents a side of the story, and the four of them have great character developments, and the parallelisms between Kaneki and Amon, and Akira and Touka are awesome. I also like Hide (for his intelligence and being cunning), Yomo (for his heart and the way he cares, I just hope he isn't a clown), Hinami (for what she brings to both Kaneki and Touka, and as a character herself) and Shinohara & Suzuya (their dynamic is just awesome too).

Tsukiyama is a good character and I agree that he's bringing a lot for the funny side of the story but he's not that different from other weird characters like Suzuya or Uta. I like him for comic relief and for what he's bringing to Kaneki as a comrade but I'm not that fond of him (we know what he has in mind, there is nothing left to guess about him). In fact, he just has weird tastes and behaves accordingly to that imo, while Suzuya truly is messed up (but with his past, that's kinda normal), as for Uta... we don't even know why he did what he did.

Maybe I'm following way too much series, but I didn't find Tsukiyama to be a very surprising character which is why I like him but slightly less than the other two, ahahaah! ^^ He goes in the "okay, I like them" category with Nishiki, Kouma, Takizawa, Irimi, Banjou and probably some others I can't remember for the moment.

The ones I truly dislike are Rize and all of Aogiri (Ayato as well, but maybe he'll change my mind in :Re). The relationship between Takara and Eto is interesting but since we don't know much about them, I'm not that fond of them so far outside of that.

As for Rize, well, before Kaneki she still seemed to be a bitch, and even if she was tortured and everything, she didn't reappear enough for me to grow out of my initial dislike for her.

Don't go all crazy on me, but I'm also very "meh" about Arima. Yeah he's strong, that's cool, yeah he killed lots of ghouls and he won over the Owls, and he's super mysterious but he's a very common character in his stereotype character category and so I just don't really care about him.

The characters I'm the most curious about are all the Pierrots, especially Uta and Itori, since they seemed to be on Kaneki/Anteiku's side from the very beginning (and we all assumed that because of the way they'd follow Yomo while in fact nothing said they were on Anteiku's side, very well played Ishida). I mean, they kinda hide their madness quite well and I want to know more about them, since the clowns were already existing when Uta and Itori had just met with Yomo.

Finally the saddest character to me, after Kaneki of course, is Yoshimura. I was quite fond of him but when you learn of his past, of the crazy daughter he had and how it ended for him, well it's pretty awful and I felt bad for him. From the very beginning, he seemed to be the most reliable, the one who created Anteiku and who saved Kaneki from being lost in a new world, just like he saved Yomo, Touka, Irimi, Kouma.... And in the end, look how he was thanked...

Yeah, it broke my heart to see what had happened to Yoshimura. How awful...

Kaneki is a really great protagonist, he fits the themes of the story perfectly I think. I like how there are so different sides to him, like being gentle to being scary but it still all fits his character. Plus he always seems to be changing and developing. I think my favorite thing in manga is good character development.

But I love everyone else too. There's so much to talk about with all of the characters. I love Touka and wish she got a little more focus towards the end of the story, I wonder how she'll end up in Tokyo ghoul re. I feel like she's similar to Yomo as a teenager a little bit.
I hope she has a big role in Tokyo ghoul re. It's safe to assume she will appear right?

Also I think the comedy relief Tsukiyama and Naki bring is awesome. It's comedy relief in a story like this but it still fits it perfectly.
Tsukiyama and Naki are both interesting other than being comedy relief as well.

Since there are so many awesome characters , side characters kind of get pushed off but I seriously love Irimi and Koma. Man, they were awesome.

I hope she will reappear but since this is now Sasaki Haise and we don't know yet if he's entirely Kaneki or not, so don't be so sure that Touka will reappear. I'd love her to, but three years passed and maybe she left or died, and maybe Ishida, knowing what troll he is, will not reintroduce her.

I don't like being pessimistic, but I don't wanna be disappointed if she didn't appear...

The only thing that keep me up believing ishida will introduce touka in tg:re is because his twitter header is still a picture of his sketch of kaneki and touka,i was already sad when he took down touka's picture on his tumblr and i understand because that picture is irrelevant as tg already ended as he kept on changing his twiter DP accordingly to his manga progress, but as master of troll he is...who knows :/

i was really surprised with myself for loving kaneki so much because his character is normally the typical protagonist character that i totally despise....maybe because i just feel so sorry for him and his tragedy, but in tg looks like tragedy is a theme for every characters not only him so urm yeah i really love his character development :D

my favourite characters would be the whole ghouls characters, everyone of them....that is why i feel a little dissapointed with tg:re as it focused more on ccg and i uhh really don't care about ccg at all since the beginning look so supicious...(i even skipped the whole ccg chapter when i read tg for the 1st time)not a single character except maybe suzuya(after i learnt his past) and his relationship with shinohara

for characters that i dislike? at first i don't like rize because i watched the anime first before the manga and the 1st ep is totally cliche for gore theme anime, so its sort off gives bad impression on me but as i dropped the anime and read the manga...she is fine, just a normal character that i don't care same goes to amon and akira(sorry @favole i guess she's your favourite, but i'm cool with it *thumbs up*)

and hide need more love than tsukiyama, if i have a friend like hide i probably would die for him its a friendship that you will treasure till you die haha and for tsukiyama is just a comic relief? i know its one of ishida favourite character but compared to other crazy perverted characters he's seems normal lol and isn't he supposed to be strong or what? and touka is at par with him...its kinda feel strange? i don't know how to explain sorry!

Yeah, maybe I am getting my hopes up a little too much about Touka getting a big role.. Ishida is a troll but hopefully not cruel enough to have Touka get one of the last scenes in the manga and not bring her back.

I forgot to mention Hinami too. She's the type of character who could've been some token little girl or sister character, but she actually has a lot of importance being a ghoul who hasn't killed. She looks so sad in :re... It would be tragic if she has blood on her hands now, but unfortunately it'd probably really hard for her to keep her hands clean, especially if she's with Aogiri. I wonder if she's gonna use that hybrid strength of hers more from now.

Nope I really like Akira, the same way I really like Touka, but I like both sides. In both sides you've got people complaining about the world being unfair, and both sides people suffer and others are mad so they're really not that different actually.

I like when characters appear and to answer your question no I'm not that appealed yet by :Re because it's only the very beginning and so many people are hyped and theorizing about everything and it's kinda giving me a headache cause I'm on the side of those who are thinking Ishida is not done with us. :)

And since I don't know the new characters that well yet, and the story hasn't advanced really far I can say I'm not convinced about :Re yet. :)

Anyway I can understand that if a majority of your favorite characters are mostly on one side, it's understandable that you are favoring the same side! ^^ lucky for me, I have characters I like on both side! ^^

Ah i totally agree with you on this, i don't even follow the theories to guess who is torso and such, i would love to read it and go with the flow as i want the shocking feeling when the truth reveal like how i read tg

ishida definitely will troll us again, somehow i'm hoping he will troll use even harder...i'm not sure of the theme for tg:re is tragedy like he use in tg? it looks unlikely because he gave hints that tg:re will have lighter concept and the vibe also different than tg, so i'm not sure how he going to shock us, the characters so far just meh (my opinion >.<) only sasaki seems promising, either he is kaneki or not i already like his character

if he is indeed kaneki i'm hoping he don't get brainwashed or amnesia, if he played all this while as we know how good actor he is to save all his ghouls friends would be awesome, but i really have to put might expectation low to not get dissapointed like *cough* certain over hype manga >.>

aside from kaneki i'm not sure who is my favourite, i love touka too but i really hope to get more flashback on uta, itori and yomo...i know a lot of people hate on uta from what he did, but i didn't suspect him at all and was too shocked that i couldn't get mad at him haha :D

you indeed lucky to love both side ghoul and human, i probably have good impression on shinohara and i always thought he is nice and kind person, and turns out he really is...i feel so sorry for suzuya, and not forget hide such a lovable boy! ^^

Well she IS pretty (it comes from one the novels if I'm not wrong?). But Touka is pretty too, and so are Itori and Hinami! ^^

I like her strong temper (but I like Touka's too), I just hope that, if she's faced with Sasaki being Kaneki and Amon being a half ghoul, she'll make the right choices! :D
