I'm not good at starting a topic so let's just make it into bullets

  1. -Insane load times of pages of manga/manhwa
  2. -Sometimes the page stuck at loading the remaining half of a page
  3. -Tried F5 like 10 times , turning off/on my moderm
  4. -About to give up on reading on Batoto -Turns on Hotspot to watch some illegal IP blocking videos ( lol )
  5. -Batoto's manga pages now loads instantly, literally , i just click a page , and BAM , next page fully loaded

So.... WTF happened? the pages now load up perfectly fast when i'm using a proxy ? ( It's should be the other way around )

On the other hand ... the forum loads hella slow

Should i just use proxy everytime i go into Batoto now ?

Meh. Well, one thing for sure, it only seems to happen to you or a couple other readers.

Uhm, first, try changing the image server? At chapter reading page, around the images navigation bar, there's a small gear icon at the right side. Click it, and try one of those three servers from the drop box.

EDIT: By the way, it seems Batoto have a new US image server now? And it seems that by default it will use that server? (or I just happen to be closer to the US image server ~~ if that's how the Auto option works) But if I remember correctly, it was always using DE server.

EDIT 2: Ugh, I don't even remember how it was now... Was it only Archive 1 and Archive 2 without information regarding the server location (like the current Image Server 3). Or was there any DE image server?

Oh well, not sure if something is wrong with my memory... But well, just try to switch between those three and see if there's any differences.

As Bobby W. said We have two US-based image servers (#1 and 2) and one Europe-based (#3). Try switching them.
Also, issue does seem to affect only you so further testing may be required.

I had the same issue. It used to come in hiccups from time to time so I never reported it, but since the last time Batoto crashed(2 or 3 days) I haven't been able to read a single chapter without the pages stopping loading.

Changing to US East 2 seems to have solved it. Thank you.

Well, just bit of explanation. We currently have 4 img servers (three in options + one you don't have ability to select).

The assignment of which server is weighted purely on which has spare bandwidth (manually tuned) and not geo-location. We did that before at one point, but was harder to budget for since it needed more overhead.

Using a proxy will generally degrade your experience as it is likely to take a longer route to get there since ISPs tend to try to give you the best route (out of existing options). But that's not always true. So, using a proxy can actually improve performance rarely. The reason multiple servers are offered is so that if there is such a hiccup, you can just connect to a different one, forcing a different route without needing a proxy.

I'm having a similar problem myself. Pages take a long time to load, sometimes half the image loads and then stops, and sometimes i get a 404. I switched from server 1 to server 2 and it seems to have fixed the problem. Looks like server 1 is having a rough morning...

Same issue here as well, has been happening the last few days,  Switching to Image Server 2 seems to resolve it.

Just try to change "Reader Settings" ( you can find the settings while you on the reader, it is the icon on the right to the page browser). There you find 3 image servers, try all  and pick the one that works best... Sometimes there are problems on one of the servers, so choose the next one...

I had the same problem and switching the image server fixed it. Thanks for letting me know the workaround.

:(

Well. I can now confirm that since Sunday 14:00 hour, the US1 server just died. Seems to be a disk error. I think it's unrecoverable, will have to redeploy. I have taken the server out of the loop.

Server 1 is still the main server here. Can you remove it as main server and reallocate it as server 2 or 3, Grumpy? I use All Mangas Reader and I don't really like to read with it turned off.

It will take up to 6 hours for the dns to propagate. You'll just have to wait.

Hello there!

I have been having the same issues here ... and following the suggestions of users in the thread I switched over to server #3 and that seemed to fix it.

Many thanks for the help, and sorry to hear about server #1 having a hdd failure....

The us1 image server is finally back in operation. Seems like it had more than 1 issue...

It'll probably be slower than the others at first since it needs to populate the contents now. But it's up & running.

Might get few 503 errors (from user's pov, it'll just be the typical 404 since we lack proper error types here...) from time to time as it's busy updating. Just give it a few seconds and refresh and should fix that.

Also while at it, I added proper location tags to each of the servers and added the missing 4th server to the drop down list.
