31 chapters......six plus freaking months and we haven't seen or even heard of our main character........what a steaming pile of shounen claptrap this has turned into.

there are 10 main characters leez isn't the only one of course she wouldn't be on the spotlight every arc

Wow, that sounds suspiciously  like a recipe to be able to run a "story" almost indefinitely without ever coming to any sort of resolution to its core elements, huh?

Yup, just like so many of these amateur webtoons, this one too saw some popularity and immediately jumped at the tried and true shounen formula of steadily introducing more and more "details", supposed "background", new characters, you name it........ all done under the guise of adding "story depth", which is all in reality simply meant to fill the thing up with fluff and extraneous, ad-lib content in order to drag its ass out just as long as it keeps selling to a besotted, ready to take anything they're given fanbase.

Uuuuuugh..........I am seriously so close to making this the next one on my "call me when (if) it ever ends" list, dunno why I haven't yet. Well, I do know............ let's face it, the siren song of the soap opera is a strong one once you get invested in it, and even after finally figuring out that they mean to hold you hostage for freaking ever it's still hard to actually break free  >_<

Except in Kubera the story depth was ALREADY THERE. This isn't ToG where the author introduces more and more characters instead of developing existed ones. All of the characters have long been established and are receiving necessary (and long overdue, in Brilith's case) character development. It's not like this is some filler arc where nothing happens, we've been having significant plot developments and revelations left and right.

And this isn't the first time Leez hasn't showed up in a while, either. Remember The Night It Rained Fire where she and her group were completely absent? If the story solely revolved around Leez it would be pretty one dimensional.

Hey, different strokes for different folks, and if you can live with this going on indefinitely and never coming to any kind of conclusion (and don't roll your eyes, this has already been limping along for just shy of eight freaking years and is nooooowhere close to any kind of even an approach to an end............hell, like you just said, they're actually finding a way to still be exploring basic characters and motivations >_<), well, hey, more power to you.

And yes, the shounen demographic is the most popular, best selling demographic.......but that's almost entirely the result of an unending and constantly rolling over supply of wide-eyed 12-14 year-olds (and by that I mean most people literally outgrow the title and cease actively reading it, maybe returning to finish reading it whenever it finally gets completed).........so yeah,  if you started reading this one when you were 15-16, you should probably have already started realizing what the inherent flaw of the demographic was by now. I mean, c'mon, how many-long running shounen titles (like this is now becoming) have you seen end with the first thing out of 90% of the readers mouths being "wow, that was kind of a let down...". Yeah, no kidding, that's because after so long the author really has run out of things to do with those characters, stories just aren't supposed to take as long as some people's actual lives to play out >_<

Oh well,  whatever, but we're seriously not going anywhere with this title anymore that we couldn't have gone 5 freaking years ago and had an exciting, thought provoking story that got its ass told and done with in 100/150 chapters or so. This has been getting milked for a long time now already, and it's nowhere close to being done.

I'm reading your posts and wonder: "why the heck are you still here", and "did we read the same webtoon".

Some of the kubera main chars didn't appear for over a year (->Gandharva).

Instead of trashtalking a webtoon we all enjoy here, just look for something else to read and come back to Kubera once it's finished, seriously.

(When binge-read, the absence of a character isn't that obvious)

Maybe instead of hyper-focusing on a single character, you can enjoy all the actual stuff we have now? This is not a beach episode. Leez's not the only interesting character. Stuff is happening right now in the story, and she's just not part of it! So many things happened since five years ago! Are you saying we could've gone from say, the Night It Rained Fire to The Value Of A Life in a single chapter? I'm pretty sure that would've made no sense.

Hell, it's not like we're even giving a day in the spotlight to a few tertiary characters? There are several main characters running around right now! Brilith, Gandharva, Maruna, Agni, Asha... even Sagara just got back too, she'll probably pop up again. This isn't a story artificially made to go on forever. This story is already planned from start to finish, because it was supposed to be a novel. It's huge and meant to be huge like this.

It's not Bleach, it's Game of Thrones.

Some stuff I made: All's here!

My profile on fanfiction.net is here.

Check Kubera out if you don't know it!

Because it's fun to see Leez dying inside and outside all over the place it's a story of romance, psychology and humor. And horror. A little.

I'm reading your posts and wonder: "why the heck are you still here"....

I'm still here because that's exactly what shounen titles do......what they mean to do.........they get you hooked on their interesting characters and stories and then they mercilessly string you along.

Heh, "hyper-focusing", well, I'm not doing that, but I sure do like that term, it's freaking snazzy, I absolutely gotta work that in somewhere today :D

Look, I'm not "trashtalking", I'm expressing  an opinion, just like you are. Hey, Tierra, do you remember back in 2013 in that "What do you think of Asha" thread when I told everyone

"And I really should have been more clear in my first post, that Asha's "overall characterization will eventually be that of one of the more notorious villains in the story".

and everybody.......everybody.......... came and told me how utterly full of bs I was? That it was all just "tough love"? You see how that turned out?

Don't act like I haven't been reading this just as long or longer than any of you, don't act like you (somehow) miraculously understand it better than I do.........you (at least right now) are, apparently, willing to read this indefinitely, and that's fine, but trust me, there are tons of people that have left this title.......and years ago for that matter......and continue to leave it, because of how long they decided to drag it out.

I've been reading since like 2014 so it's not like I'm a yesterday's reader either.

All I did was point out that I don't think your complaints are legitimate because objectively, the situation is NOTHING like a shounen dragging on and on.

Frankly, I wasn't gonna step in because I'm not into the forum that much anymore but you annoyed someone enough that they showed me your answer. You're being really negative and from my point of view, your complaints make very little sense, unless you're referring to the story length in general. Sure didn't see you complain back in Kalibloom!

But yeah, it's annoying people that fans ask for Leez and Yuta over and over and over. The story isn't just about them, and it really pisses me off when everyone starts talking as if it does. It's tiring.

Maybe you do need to step back from the comic for a little while, or have a short rereading session! Could spark up some love again...

Yes, yes, good luck with all that :)

Still haven't used "hyper-focusing" yet, but I'm going back over to another forum before I go to bed, maybe I'll get lucky......forums are mostly dead today though, freaking Sunday >_<

Grammar and syntax mistakes aren't the main issue; what bothers me are the blatant mistakes which give out that the translators are simply not too familiar with the series.
The most glaring mistakes that caught my eye:

1) Calling the vast and desert-like sura realm "sura city". I have seen this mistake made repeatedly in the previous season, so it isn't going to be corrected any time soon.
2) In Agni's block, it is stated that there is only one other person that can summon him besides Brilith, which is misleading.
3) Maruna is reffered to as a member of the Gandharva clan.

Oh, yeah, I see that now, though in all fairness it actually says "among" the Gandharvas, not explicitly that he is one, so that's not necessarily the "blatant mistake" you're making it out to be......he was indeed turned over to Gandharva pretty young and raised "among" that clan, wasn't he?

Ah well, I think the main point here is that LINE is the official translation, they're actually part of the publishing machinery and getting direction and information directly from the author, trying to hold out for however/whatever fan scanlators have done in the past just doesn't make sense.

And as far as legitimate mistakes....."An superior sura" instead of "A superior sura"........well, I've caught grammatical and spelling errors in Harry Potter books and English language VIZ media published Bleach tankoubons, top dollar, top of the line professionally published works. Mistakes happen, and sometimes a tiny amount of them get past the PR/QC process, that's just a fact. Quibbling over petty stuff like that is just silly.

Heh, it's funny to read this bit again. I guess I forgot to mention here that the new translator redid most of the Season 3 Prologue (she didn't get to redo the whole thing, however) because even she thought the original translation was utter crap. And yes, she changed "Gandharva clan" to "Garuda clan", but the explanation above for that mistake is golden.

Psssttt... If you will, please pay a little extra attention to the next official release (Episode 3-5) a couple of days from now.

For those of you who have been reluctant to read Kubera on Webtoons, I think it's time to give it another shot!

I'll explain more later!

:batoto_016:

Wait, I thought that was you not even a month ago......or did you have a change of heart since posts 352 and 354...?

Not that you can't, just curious is all :)

To be clear, I continued to support the English translation in spite of the fact that the Season 1&2 translations were sloppy. I made it a point to mention the more blatant mistakes in the Webtoons comments.

I'm a major contributor to the Kubera wiki, and I'm also the one who's been getting those afterwords translated and putting them in the Webtoons comments (I'm カブトガニ, nice to meet you!) since around episode 70 in Season 1, though I recently passed the Webtoons torch to Elisa. Not only do I do my small part in promoting the webtoon, I was also actively working to toss out that old translator (who still does Tower of God and Noblesse, in case you missed him) by keeping in communication with Naver and the Kubera translation team. Who wouldn't want to improve something they enjoy if the option is there?

I thought I'd clear that up for anyone who read those posts and misunderstood why I was so critical of the older English translation.

Do you have a source, or actual data on that? And an explanation of how this is significantly different from most other webtoons?

Yes, yes, good luck with all that :)

You know, I was going to take you seriously (at least a little) until the "I'm a major contributor to the Kubera wiki..." line just totally blew that out of the water.

Just a heads-up, but being a self-proclaimed "one the biggest fans" in a fan club just isn't going to impress many people outside of that, uhm, overly-fervent little group >_<

Geez, who pissed in your oatmeal?

Are substance-less insults and general flailing about really all that satisfying to you? Do you really hate the fact that people may still enjoy this webtoon, and a few of them find this forum useful to trade bits of insight or info on it? Unless you really are that much of a misanthrope, I’d suggest stepping back, away from this webtoon and forum. At least, until you get that rage under control.

Heh, "general flailing about", that's awesome :D

Look here, friend, I haven't given back any more than has been directed at me in regards to this conversation, nobody gets a free pass to come and try to bash my opinion without getting a little back.......and that includes you now.

You must be seeing something nobody else is, because you make it sound like I'm going around disrupting conversation.........look again, dummy, 99% of the convo for this title happens in threads other than this one, and this is the only one I've bothered to post in for at least the last couple/few years or so.

But whatever, don't care, your opinion means very little to me, so yeah, good luck with all that  :)

'K, that's enough for me, I'm just flat dumping this. This work has just continued to progress away from "reading a story" that had at least some amount of definition as to its course and aims until it's become more about creating some alternative reality for people to escape into (apparently) forevermore.

Ya'll enjoy yourselves, I've lost all interest in what happens to anybody in this boondoggle anymore.

Just got back to this comic after 2-3 years. Read up to the current chapter, and I see it's nowhere close to ending, so I get it. I clearly lost the energy to follow it back then, and I don't regret the time saved. "Bingeing" actually took way less time and effort than I thought. I see myself keeping up with it for a little while, but eventually I'll fall away again and come back a long while later. I still really like it.

I also think that Leez's character development is the final core of the story - and that while the story steps back from it, the way towards the ending looks even further. It's not to everyone's taste, so enjoy your other titles :)

I'll probably go back and read it after it ends, I did Naruto and it was the same for me.......swore I was done with its never-ending  restarts and milking the story along.....but yeah, I quit it for like 4 years and picked it back up once it was confirmed the ending was imminent.

Might do the same with Noblesse if it ever ends, I've got to be in the range of 2/3 years of abandoning that one too >_<
