So I just found out a couple of days ago Tokyopop has translated this manga through volume 6. So why not just scan in pages from their translation, then have a scanalator start on translating volume 7? Something to do with copyright?

uhhh yeah thats pretty far past the bar of illegal to scan in a published translation.

Yes, it's partly because of legal isuses. We will not be using official translations and official scans are not allwoed on Batoto, but there are other reasons reasons for not using them.
For example many of the official translations aren't very good to put it nicely.
Also just using offical scans can't be considered scanlation, only using the translation and put it in other scans is very borderline.

Seriously sometimes official translations aren't good? And they make us pay for them? Wtf. Some scanlations, no offense, seem a bit off sometimes themselves though. That said, no media is ever perfect.

So then I guess manually cleaning up and writing in the official translations into the raw scans wouldn't work. Sigh...well I bring this up mostly because the translation of this manga's quite slow, perhaps even at a halt now. So it'd be nice if the translators could start from a place we haven't seen yet if that makes sense. Guess I'll just be patient.
