So what or how many musical instruments can you play? What instruments do you want to learn to play?

Do you have a favourite instrument or combinations of instruments that you think sounds the best?

Oh and no, I will not accept triangles, marraccas, egg shaker or any other instruments like that as an asnwer to an instrument you can play...unless you can actually proffessionally play it with some sort of technique I guess

I've never been too musical when it comes to melody instruments, but I'm good with hand drums.  I played doumbek (also occasionally bongos, congas, bendir, other random similar drums) in two different bands over the course of about seven years.

And to the second question, I've always liked the combination of piano, violin, and drums for some reason.  Especially when it's an upbeat song.

I played the bass clarinet and really enjoyed it. I've got a clarinet, but it's just not the same :/

Also used to be able to play alto sax, flute, keyboard and glockenspiel at a basic level. Oh and can't forget the good ol' recorder :P

I'd really like to learn how to properly play the guitar, and other string instruments. The double bass is pretty cool. The bassoon, too.

Baritone, tenor, alto and soprano saxophones sound good together. Drums and guitar is a good combo, you can play so many different styles together.

i've played the piano, viola, recorder and bass guitar. recently dropped piano, dropped bass guitar two years ago, and stopped recorder after i left primary school. still do viola though - i'm in my school's chamber orchestra.

i'd love to pick up the bass guitar again. or even the electric guitar. i listen to tons of metal but i could never play any of my favorite songs... shucks. (i'd also love to learn to sing so i could try some metal songs. screamo's out of bounds though.)

i also did an african drumming class once, but that was years back. i remember i got "promoted" to main drummer for the class, and i got put in charge of two massive drums (they were about five times as fat as i was). great fun.

i play the piano and guitar (acoustic and bass) sometimes. everyone in my family can play the guitar so it wasn't that difficult to acquire experience. i want to learn how to play the drums. back in hs, i sometimes played the drums during band practice breaks but nothing serious.

getting serious with playing any instrument is kinda difficult for me since i'm a little chicken-brained and my field of study (which i really should be focusing) isn't anywhere near musical.

I know how to play the guitar. Also the keyboards. And drums.

'Know how' isn't the same as 'proficient'

it's frustrating, and I don't have the time to practice and improve.

I can sing though.

I'm an all-around instrumentalist in two bands. I shamelessly sing sometimes as well.

I play acoustic-electric guitar and bass, flute, loopstation (when mixing sounds of human beatboxing and some real instruments), piano, violin, box drum or beatbox (the real instrument) and... I forgot the others. I'm more on drums now though because I really like exerting effort on making my whole body move. There's a bit of head-banging, extending my arms, hitting the cymbals so hard. Also, the adrenaline when I use double-peds. It's... priceless!

Only glockenspiel, though I haven't played on them for a long time.
Always wanted to learn how to play on keyboard/piano/bass guitar, but never got chance/opportunity/monies/time for that. :(

Hmm... probably have some combinations I particularly enjoy hearing, but it's something I notice when listening to them and forget about soon after.

Only glockenspiel, though I haven't played on them for a long time.

Yeah I love all the sounds my Glock makes but- Wait, that might be a different thing entirely!

So there's a lot of skilled music-type folks here playing all manner of stuff I never heard of. That's pretty cool. It's been a long time since I picked something up. Anyone know how to make my electric guitar sound like Whitesnake's "Still of the Night"?

I play piano and mess around on the guitar sometimes but that can't really be counted as playing. I was in my high school's choir and was part of the choir in a tribute concert last year which was pretty awesome.

I've always wanted to play viola and drums, but I think all instruments are super cool and would be happy to play anything, really :D

Played the piano as a kid and growing up. Middle school got into orchestra. Played the cello even tho the teacher said I should be on the bass since I was so tall. Got into high school and played those 2 instruments for the whole duration.

I started off with an Electric Guitar when I was about 9 and played until I was 12, then switched to the Electric Bass for about a year and then stopped with musical instruments all together. About 4 years later, after discovering some musical acts that I ended up loving (Weezer, AKG, BEAT CRUSADERS, Ellegarden), I decided to pick the Bass back up and have been going strong with it since.

If there was an instrument that I wish I had the space for so I could start learning, it would be the Drums. When I'm at some friends' place and he happens to be a drummer/have a drum kit, I start just doing some simple shit, but it's so damn fun to play.

I used to play piano, but I stopped taking lessons in Year 8. I currently play violin, and I plan to teach myself to play guitar.
