Hello.

Lately (maybe starting one or two weeks ago), when Im reading any given manga chapter, my processor starts running really fast. it sort of alternates 100% load on the 2 cores; something like:
Core1: 100% Core 2: usual load
Core1: 100% Core 2: usual load
Core1: usual load Core 2: 100%
Core1: usual load Core 2: 100%
rinse and repeat

it only happens when Im actually seeing pictures (ie: www.batoto.com/read/_/25055/the-world-god-only-knows_v14_ch155_by_red-hawk-scans/2 ).

Im running Ubuntu 10.04 on a dual core Intel [email protected], Firefox 6.

I had a similar problem with Mangafox, but that fixed itself on its own.

dunno if theres any other info I can provide.

Thanks in advanced.

Hmm... quite an odd problem.

Given that it happened for you on another site as well and no similar reports yet, I'm somewhat inclined to think that it's just you than us.

Only thing shared between mangafox and us is that we (probably) use same advertising networks (there aren't that many in the world tbh).

I could offer the suggestion of try updating your OS to 11.04 and/or reinstall your browser and/or try disabling some plugins in FF is the most general answer I can give with the clues I have.

If you want some additional help for diagnosis, I suggest you posting some stats. It's possible that it's not your ff at all. ff knows how to use multi core but it only uses two...

Been some time since I've used Ubuntu... so, these commands might be wrong... lol but for starters in shell
You can get your top processes (default sort should be in cpu) with...
top

Did you try disable JaveScript to isolate the high cpu usage?

my bad. I am using 11.04. and yes, the top process is Firefox (for got to mention that earlier). Other thing I failed to mention earlier is that I dont have this problem on my (Windows 7) laptop.

disable JavaScript. got it. what to do after that? (not home atm).

Just a forewarning, if you disable javascript, batoto will not function properly. But it will still function. :P

After you disable javascript, you could see if you still have such a problem.

Also, if the problem is indeed within the scope of firefox, I'm kinda thinking it may be some plugin problem...

finally got around to trying out the javascript thingy. indeed, once I disabled it, i had no more problems, but then again, its kinda bothersome to disable it every time i wish to read a manga.

Ah... so many debugging stuff I wish I'd run if I was on your computer. Alas, I am not. So the only recommendation I can give at this point then is use another browser for your manga needs.

Opera (http://www.opera.com)
and
Chrome(http://www.google.com/chrome) are both excellent alternatives.

Opera is more out-of-the-box-but-has-everything-you-need style.
Chrome is more of I want it now style. :P

OR try disabling all plugins on your firefox this time instead of javascript. If the problem lies within a single plugin, you may be able to identify which one by trial and effort.

Actually, I used to have this issue when I was still using Linux. It'd strike different programs at random. Yes, it's some sort of bug that affects one or both cores. However, perhaps it's some sort of software bug that rears its head only on Gnome or Xfce or whatever you're using.

I don't know if Opera is available on Linux but I can suggest Konqueror.

For pony!!! :D

Miseng is supposedly the Prince of Zahard and thus, a trap. SIU, you've completely outdone yourself this time. :D :D :D

And I'm very sorry, I just rarely accept friend requests these days. I don't really do Facebook friend requests. Maybe next time. :P

Even though I like TOG, I have no favourite characters. There are only characters I get attached to, for the moment and some traits I adore, just for a while. In the same way, there is no character I hate or dislike. I may get annoyed, angry and so on, for a while.

meh. this sucks but theres not much to do about it.

thanks everyone. I just hope this problem goes away the same way it came: on its own and without me noticing.

for the time being, Ill test out disabling the different plugins.
