I am really interested in translating Akaiito (MIYASAKA Kaho)   for my new scans group.  The manga has already been scanned and translated to English by another manga group(shirayuki scans). However, they only updated 9 chapters when there are already 19 chapters out. I feel that my group will be able to work faster to get this manga translations updated. Is there a way for me to take over the manga? And how do I do that? I am new at this so I would be grateful for any help.

you could go ask the current group if they're still doing it. if they've dropped it, then you go ahead and do the rest. simple as that, really.

(personally, i think that if the delay between chapters has been long enough, it doesn't really matter if you ask them or not. why bother?)

You are free to do whatever you want, its just that stealing projects is lame and waste of resources. Unless the group release rate is REALLY slow, so.. :)

But yea, you should first do what Viscoun said.

Yeah, definitely try to contact them about it (if you haven't already), especially in a case like this one since Shirayuki Scans hasn't ceased scanlating. They've had releases since the last one on the title you mention, they might just need help. It's not unusual for scan groups to collaborate and make joint releases.

shirayuki released a chapter of akaiito 3 months ago. that's not a very long delay. you should definitely ask them if you can't wait.

(though to be honest, their overall release rate is horrendous. i don't think they'd be able to do anything if you took the project for your own. just something to consider, that's all.)

Contacting them and discussing it with them is the right and polite way to do it.

Seeing as Shirayuki Scans is still an active group, I would suggest contacting them and seeing if they would be interested in a joint between you and them.
