appeal to the nearest megane to hug me.

Much to my disappointment,

the megane dug into my head and I felt hurt rather than healed.

This time, I set out to find a more huggable entity, when

[pokari]

I came across a giant slime.

Unsure whether it would be a good idea to hug it, I

[penrosecat]

decided to hug it.

 

As expected, it exacted revenge by hugging me back, making me feel

[pokari]

squishy and warm.

After a while, I told the slime that it was an excellent hugger, and

[penrosecat]

it gave me a slime smile.

It was slightly unnerving, yet I saw the kindness in its eyes, making it obvious that I had to

[pokari]

become best friends with it, so that smile could be protected.

Aside: The "protect that smile" meme I tend to find kind of presumptuous and even chauvinistic in a lot of it's uses, but the sweet, determined, sometimes slightly sad sentiment in manga that the line is taken from is often quite dear to me. *mixed feelings*

So I tarried for a while in the forest with the slime, and we went on adventures, and ate berries, and played in brooks and streams, until

it was the slime’s bedtime.

As an adventurer who always takes responsibility, I carefully walked it home, after which

[pokari]

it introduced me to its parent and siblings, which was a little embarrassing, but they were all quite lively and the atmosphere was quite freindly, so it turned out okay.

At the conclusion of the very squishy evening, I chose to

[penrosecat]

go straight to my desk and further my research on slimes.

 

Having actually met one really helped, and soon my log was filled, after which

[pokari]

I fell, contentedly, to sleep.

In the days and weeks that followed,

...I climbed high mountains, and then unclimbed then when I got hungry.

But I found nothing excepts slimes so I...

[pokari]

...slowly began to forget how to speak human language as I only spoke Slime on a day-to-day basis.

This was less of a problem...

...once I ran into the protagonist of Heterogeneous Linguistics.

today the sun and the rain came out to play.
