Really liked the art, thought it was interesting how they blended the 2-D and 3-D aspects. Especially the skateboard part, totally rad. Definety has potential to be a great webtoon.

Just realized this but, Wenqing Yan (the author) uploaded this herself... woah that is really cool.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but she didn't upload it herself. I did. xD

If you haven't already, check out her Deviant Art gallery. Lots of extra art. She also has another webcomic (unfinished/ongoing?) on there call Knite made in flash.

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason why the group name is "Wenqing Yan" instead of Tapastic?

(And should we even be hosting this here? Apparently Tapastic artists are funded by ad revenue.)

EDIT: Never mind. http://vatoto.com/forums/topic/17342-tapastic-comics/

I can change it if neccessay, but I decided to list Wenqing Yan as the group so that others would check out the author's DeviantArt and social media pages. It's nice having a dedicated author page for users to check out or post comments. The idea is to get people interested in the artist. Furthermore, while Fisheye Placebo is published on Taptastic, it's actually first published on DeviantArt. (For instance, the release of chapter 1.1 was on DeviantArt for about nearly a week before the author uploaded it to Taptastic.) But it feels rather ridiculous to list DeviantArt as the group.

I actually debated whether or not I should be uploading her chapters, but eventually decided I wanted more people to discover this fantastic webcomic. And while I'm not familar with how DeviantArt/Taptastic works, I'm not sure if the author actually makes any money off of Fisheye since I don't think DeviantArt does ad-partnerships like YouTube and I never see ads on the Taptastic page for the series. (Yes, adblockers have been disabled.) From what I can tell, the author seems really busy with private commissions, so I assume that's where most of the money comes from.

Batoto offers relatively good exposure to a userbase consisting primarly of readers who would otherwise be unaware/uninterested in self-published works, especially those of English origin (since sites like MAL or MangaUpdates do not allow such listings usually). When I first saw Fisheye on Batoto, there were only about 3 chapters uploaded and maybe about 200ish followers. Since I've been uploading the chapters, it's now grown to 1000+ followers and has even managed to hit the "Highest Rated" list. =]

I had also read in the comments that the author seemed to be aware of online manga readers, and was okay with it, though it's not entirely clear if she understands the implications and it was pertaining to her other works. Either way, in the event that the author wants her work taken down, I'll be a little bit sad since Batoto is such a convient way of reading/sharing webcomics, but I'll gladly comply. Though, that Taptstic post you've linked makes me feel a little bit better (but still a little wary). xD

I visit Tapastic a lot and the way the Prime (paid) creators get paid, works just like Naver or Daum. The Prime creators seem to get paid based on views AND how long the reader stays on the page.

^ Thanks for the heads up on that.

I guess I just find it odd that she would upload it to DeviantArt first and then neglect Taptastic for nearly a week or so.

True that; I wouldn't have known this comic otherwise.

After reading your explanation I decided to read directly from tapastic. A good thing too - to be able to read author's rambling beneath each post.

This series seems to be so promising!
Astonishing artwork, really. Likeable, deep characters. Original and interesting story line.
Really, it appears to have it all.

I dig it and hope this promising gem will not be flawed by cancellation or other sudden mishabs.
