I'm still working on chapter 29 and, with a little luck, it should be finished in a few weeks.  Here's a little preview for the impatient.

 

In other news, S2Scans claims that they will continue Nicoichi at some point.  Even though they haven't  released anything since Feb 2013, I'll probably stop working on Nicoichi after chapter 29.  This is in part in the hope that S2Scans will continue, but also because my Japanese skills aren't really adequate.  Translating Nicoichi is quite a challenge for me, not to mention time consuming.

 

If I do pause work on Nicoichi, I'll probably pick up Kono S o Mi Yo, F-Compo, or Luna Heights.

Aww, that's too bad.  I was thrilled to find a new chapter up after so long and was hoping you'd continue.  But it's your free time so I can't really complain.

Whew, that was rough.  Unless there's a major plot point in chapter 30, I'm going to pause Nicoichi for a while and work on leveling my Japanese skill.  I will continue with Umi no Misaki releases though.

And did ch. 29 really end at page 17? it seemed a bit abrupt

Yeah, I think so.  I don't see any unaccounted for pages in my sliced up manga book.  There's also the usual little epilogue at the end of page 17.

Thanks again!  Kono S o Mi Yo, F-Compo, and Luna Heights are also series that I enjoyed reading though I've kinda given up on Kono S o Mi, with all the spoilers I've read and I like the author's other works more.

Nicoichi seems to be cursed somehow... anyone picking it up drops it. I had high hopes for russians - a group called "Nyan-mafia" translated it up to 48, but stopped and then got disbanded.

It's pretty difficult to translate.  Each chapter has about four times as many distinct kanji as a chapter of Umi no Misaki.  Here's a sneak peak at chapter 30.

It's been a bit over a year since the Nicoichi ch. 30 teaser.  Is this now a "dropped" project? 

 

If not, do you need an English-proficient proof-reader/editor?  e.g. c29p17 has the word "women" (plural) where it should have been "woman" (singular).
