Since I don't have a forum, I'm going to use this area to post comments about scanalating Umi no Misaki, updates on the next chapter, as well as provide a home for the impotent internet rage train.

My first instinct is to shout, "No! Don't do it! That's what happened to the last guy!" On second thought, this might be a good place for you to answer questions about odd translations. Like Shizuka asking, "That one? That one?"

LOL. Griefers are to be expected though.

Now that things have calmed down, I want say a few things about Impatient Scans. Personally, I was really happy when then Impatient Guy started releasing Umi no Misaki, because, after waiting several months, I wanted to know what happens in the story. So thanks Impatient Guy -- well done.
As for the “quality” issue, it’s easy to see that Impatient Guy’s releases are cleaned pretty well if you compare them to the raws. He didn’t have Photoshop, which explains the use of letterboxing and the lack of background text cleaning. I’ve tried to use GIMP and other cheap alternatives, but they don’t have stroke effects (fuzzy borders around text) and I couldn’t get the rubber stamp tool to work right (used to clean text written over background).
BTW, here’s what a raw looks like http://raw.senmanga.com/Umi_no_Misaki/124/9

I've been analyzing traffic for Umi no Misaki on several sites. It looks like the number of pirate readers is somewhere between 50,000 and 75,000.

Sneak preview of chapter 126. This chapter has quite a bit more text than most of the recent chapters, so so it's going to take a little longer than usual. I'm also leveling this chapter to be a little darker and with higher contrast. This fades some of the background textures, but sharpens all of the line art.

You would think with that many fans somebody would license it.

Cool, looking forward to it.

I'm looking at the page that's coming up from that link http://i.imgur.com/SDSuc9M.png , is this a page you've cleaned? I just ask because the kanji is still present in the bubbles, and also, when comparing that page to the same page in the uploaded chapter http://img.batoto.net/comics/2014/02/17/u/read5301b79b6fbc1/img000003.png
it seems like there's a significantly larger amount of shadows, smudges and what I'm guess to be bleed-through from the image on the other side of the page http://puu.sh/71GN2/828285d303.jpg.
I'm not trying to be critical, I'm more wondering if I'm looking at the right page.
Personally, I think ch 126 overall looks quite good, there are a few smudges here and there http://puu.sh/71H51/fe474c7e49.jpg , but overall very good. To a degree, the quality of the raw dictates just how good it can be made. Oftentimes there's just only so much that can be done.

Chapter 123 reclean sample http://imgur.com/NDH5sIg
Very, very nice. All the images (her, the snowflakes, the title/kanji) look far more "clean" and well defined than in the raw page I'm looking at (SenManga, no clue if there's better available or what you've used). The darks and lights have all been vastly improved on, along with removing the majority of the "lines" http://puu.sh/73K5E/195920772d.jpg and the coarse/rough look of much of the background... http://puu.sh/73KaE/cc4446ce76.jpg
There's very little that I see to actually mention, but there are just one or two I'd at least point out. In the skin-tones of her face (and I know it really can't be seen when looking "straight on" at it, I normally tilt my screen just slightly when really looking hard for this kind of thing, especially the light or "white" areas) you can see some vertical lining/shawdows/smudges that don't appear to have been there in the raw. http://puu.sh/73KfZ/ef647442f1.jpg It's also somewhat visible on her neck.
It's also somewhat visible in her mitten and the snowball, a horizontal line/shadow in the upper portion of the snowball, and some vertical and horizontal lining/shadows in her mitten http://puu.sh/73KzQ/5f08fe0017.jpg . This is also slightly visible in the lower/right section of the page (most noticeable in the box due to its white background)....
http://puu.sh/73KIz/edcc107713.jpg.
Overall it looks great, I like the translations on the page as well, they look good, nice and readable but not too big or intrusive.
the raw I was looking at: http://raw.senmanga.com/Umi_no_Misaki/123/
