Since this would be my first time creating a topic here, i am not too sure how i should go about it, i wanted to open a topic so people will let me know what they think of Waste, this is a fairly new work by french manga-ka Mangatengu and there is 2 full chapters with the 3rd on the way and i really liked the work enough to uploaded it and shared with everyone, i hope you like it too.

como esta es la primera vez que creo un tema aqui no estoy muy seguro que hacer aqui, solo queria crear un tema donde la gente me pudiera decir que piensan de este manga independiente Waste, es un trabajo bastante nuevo del mangaka independiente Frances Mangatengu con 2 capitulos completos y el tercero en camino, y quien me mando este trabajo me dice que tiene permiso del mangaka para traducir sus trabajos y la verdad que me gusto lo suficiente para subirlo y compartirlo con todos, espero que les guste.

I haven't read past chapter one, so take what I say here with a grain of salt.

 

I like the art. It's certainly no eye candy, but it's of higher quality than the average webcomic, and it maintains a style that doesn't try overly hard to be either Western or Eastern.

 

The story and the way it's portrayed has some glaring flaws, though. The first two characters serve no purpose other than to illustrate the world by getting killed off. Exposition should be done more naturally as the plot unfolds - as it is now, the opening scene is as close as an infodump as you can get without walls of text. "Hey readers, it's a crapsack world, here, let me just have this husband kill off his pregnant wife just to illustrate how bad it is."

 

More prominently, there is no main character the reader can sympathize with, and the few characters that do exist seem to be throwaway stand-ins, even referring to themselves as insignificant. That kind of lukewarm relationship with the fourth wall is a device from gag manga. It only serves to break immersion in a post-apocalyptic action story - even if humor worked here, it would only serve to weaken the preceding events, and if that were the objective, there was no need to draw those deaths so gruesomely.

You probably should change ch1 group to "No Group", and its title to "Vagabond".

Art is OK, and if first chapter is created for purpose of introducing the overall situation (and maybe with MC's) then it looks a little to long. For now there is not much of the story, i.e. story can still go in any direction, so its impossible commenting on that. Probably after next few chapters we can see at least direction where it goes, just hope it will not turn only into long detailed action scenes of fights between human mutants, humans and various other mutants .

Few logical problems with world of this manga: action is set in the big city, but if its after nuclear apocalipse, big cities are first targets, the bigger the city the earlier got hit, so the radiation peaks should be there. With that, food and especially usable water supplies should be almost non existable in the cities, and humans would gather in less urban areas. Second, the survived humans look surprisingly healthy, radiation first cause health problems, for mutations is needed much longer time, especially for making such big mutated beings... But its not that big problem, i can understand that visualy bigger impact on reader give picture of big city then the rural area.

All in all, for now it looks quite passable, and hope we will see story in next chapters.

 

Just seen second chapter, so for now looks there will be some story from the start...
