I just saw this article and every photo of Kowloon screams City of Darkness, not to mention the humdrum lifestyle despite a backdrop of drugs and crime. For all I know, the author could have used these photos as references since they were taken over a decade ago.

incase u didnt know, howloon's english name, is city of darkness... or rather, it steems from a novel named city of darkness, describing the lifestyles within kowloon.

 

also it was a dead give away if you paid attention to the earlier chapters and those picture you just linked, they were drawn from those pictures.
