What are your initial thoughts on the manga now that 2 chapters have already been released?
Personally i think its okay, but it seems more like a walkthrough than an actual manga.

Well, as the translator, I must say that I really like this manga (btw, if you notice any mistake, tell me so I can fix it asap). If you ask me, I think Machigerita is taking a weird approach to this story. I mean, Mado is trapped. Even if that's something that some people have argued over the years, if you think also about the diary being already written... well, I think Machigerita is going for the "The diary is alive as is feed on dreams" route. I may be wrong, but even if I am, just the fact that he managed to make me think about it makes this manga worth it.

Yeah, completely. The original text was
"やめてお母さん"
If there was a dot between the two words, one could argue that she may have been calling for her mother in a desperate situation (and I would have translated that as "Stop! Mom!", that it's kinda ambiguous too), but there's nothing between them, so it's quite straightforward.
