Hey guys, long time no see and sorry for disappearing off the face of the planet.  I just came back on to tell you that I received an e-mail from Seven Seas Manga indicating that they have picked up the license to Jigokuren Love In Hell.  Because their e-mail was incredibly nice and they were asking for assitance to make this become a reality, I am requesting on their behalf that the manga be taken down.  For your referance, I shall quote the e-mail here and the response I recieved:

Hi, I’m [Name Removed for Privacy Reasons], managing editor with Seven Seas Entertainment. I’m overseeing the official North American release of “Love in Hell” (Jigokuren), and I’d like to get in touch with the person who lettered Manga-Heaven’s initial chapters of “Love in Hell”. I really like the lettering work that Manga-Heaven did on those early scanlation chapters and would love to work with that person on Seven Seas’ official print edition. In fact, it’s because of your scanlation work that we licensed the series in the first place, so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Response by me:

> Would you like me to spread the word that the manga should be taken down for licensing? I'm sure some of the more ethical sites out there would be happy to comply.<

His response:
That's not really necessary. Only if you want to.

Yeah, nice to see that they actually like what scanlators did and want help from them.

Would you like me to spread the word that the manga should be taken down for licensing? I'm sure some of the more ethical sites out there would be happy to comply.

That's not really necessary.

It is rather cool. The same thing happened last year with another group.

Soba-Scans worked on Velvet Kiss for the company Project-H, and after that another borderline-H series Love on the Job!.

I find that response from them even more cool. Not only did they license the series and request help from the original scanlators, but aren't requesting themselves to have it taken down from online readers. I understand Souldrake's choice to request it in their stead, though.

Nice to see that Seven Seas Entertainment didn't come out with all guns blazing like DMCA/legal threats, and instead talked it out. And the fact that you guys (as scanlators) asked Batoto to take it down.

Judging by his language, I'm pretty sure that the person(s) concerned have already tried to reason with MangaFox/other aggregators and must have given up trying to fight against digital piracy.
