OKAY. This has bothering me for a long time and I'm still struggling to give myself peace on the topic XD And by the way, I'm not discrediting any of the translators who have worked on this project.

This is a topic about how the Human "Hal/Haru" should be named.

For SURE, Robo-Hal, is Hal because that's what the title spelled it as in the logo. And you can't deny that. I'm personally just having discrepancies about the original Human "Hal/Haru". Was his name "Hal" or "Haru"?

Because Kurumi's name is spelled normally (in all it's Japanese-ness). So I figured "Haru" would be name for the human since they're Japanese and the original Japanese pronounciation is usually the direction we'd go in. That idea would be especially clever in terms of differentiating between the two characters. BUT... alas, it's hard to tell because the anime trailer doesn't really give us much of a hint either. It all sounds the same.

So what do you think? Do you care? This series has a lot of flashbacks into the original "Hal/Haru's" life, so it might make a difference.

I'm tempted to go along with how Anime News Network set it up. The Robo-Hal and Haru set-up.

I also figured that Haru's name would be kept, but I think it was changed to "Hal" to keep Robo-Hal in agreement with the real Hal. I guess "Hal" was written in katakana for both the robot and the real one, so both were translated as "Hal." I kind of care, but then I think about the ending and feel that it doesn't matter.

Thank you for the link. Now I know more about the movie that the comments are raving about.
