Please place all of your strange theories into this thread discerning Lark, the world of Crepuscule, Chepesh, and other things you can think of...

I went ahead and tried to gather the most relevant theories I could find, so with that as a basis, let's get this thread rolling ladies and gentlemen :D :

yup. it's been a mysterious contradiction since the very start.......humans can't have red eyes but Lark has them and  is every bit a human as far as anybody and everybody are concerned.

I'd guess more along the lines that Chepish found some way to extend his life/soul/influence through means other than actual procreation with a human.............oceana likened it to being "sealed" inside Lark, and personally I find that a pretty plausible theory that would explain a connection and not run afoul of the established "facts" of the story.

@svines85 I like your theories, that's honestly the way I would go , Angela says humans can't have red eyes cause of some contract they've had with humans since the beginning of time, or it could be something like this

  •
  • Something big is about to happen in the Crepuscule world, so certain people are being born for this reason. A human was needed and Lark who lives extremely close to the portal was chosen as one of these people. Setz was born too early and had to wait in his mother's stomach, Mutants like Neal, Carne, and Sia are all born in this time. Bathory's life is extended; the world itself is assembling these people which is why Lark has red eyes, his role is to have some connection with it's creator Karmella, and Chepesh.

  • Lark is a new(or old depending on how you look at Angela's comments) breed of human and is able to allow spirits of other creatures to inhabit him, as a genetic trait. Ghost genetic trait is turnin into fog, Succubus is ageless plus magic, Zombie is forever healing-no pain, Werewovles is transforming into some form of animial, Vampires is having a strange otherworldly power(ability). The reason so many have abilities is because there vamp blood is so strong, those that have abilies don't have these natural genetic traits and vice versa.

  • What I find least likely, Lark is the holder of this time old contract between vampires and humans. Angela mentioned that there is some kind of contract. Since their may have been redeyed humans before him, you might say that they are holders of the contract being passed down. It explain why Lark, as if by destiny, is by chance found by Setz a young of the not too many purebloods who was born 500 yrs late, the only human in exsistance w/red eyes just so happening to live near a portal happens to be outside the night Setz visits the human world. As such his destiny is closely linked with all things concerning the Vamp and Human relationships; with the Crepscule world crumbling, Vamps are about to be near humans so Lark is drawn towards the center of the action

Okay, just want to make this point across for everyone to see... Lark is 100% human according to what was stated in the beginning chapters...

Not only that, but he is completely immune to the weaknesses of vampires such as, sunlight, silver, flowing sacred water, and garlic. Also, all of the first generation vampires have recognized his scent as one of a human.

These facts cross out any theories that have to with Lark being related to Chepesh by blood whatsoever.

It seems as though Lark is looking for something, whether it be an item or whatnot.. With this being thrown across the table, I have become driven to a corner - unsure as to who is in control of Lark anymore.

When we hear what Lark has to say, he seems totally out of character. But you can also tell how we are seeing what Lark is thinking and not Chepesh. I was beginning to think that Chepesh, or his ability, has begun to indulge Lark into a sea of darkness. But, then again, we also see that the current motives Lark has (or whatever motives he has) seems a bit unrelated to Lark himself - and more likely directed towards Chepesh. Maybe Lark is simply "at the steering wheel" of the car while Chepesh gives him the "directions"...

Then again, I'm not to sure how well I can induce this information coming from the most current translations - since they are often ridiculed for being a bit sketchy and off.

Probably true, Neal has given ample reason to get killed off by Navarus and he hasn't done it yet. And Sylvia has been with him a long time. Still though, no telling for sure, it was implied that Angela's work was irreplaceable to his plan, so it's not outside the realm of possibility.........though a lot depends on what happens from here. Chepesh and the council are wild cards now that show that Navarus isn't necessarily going to call the shots on what goes on with the running of the world like he was characterized as earlier.

I can't believe I forgot about that lol!

Setz seems very worried about Larks strange behavior, along with Seere, but Setz has more to worry about then her. He knows that Lark is a human, and therefore, Setz knows that it is impossible for Lark to have an ability in the first place since humans don't have any abilities whatsoever...

This is quite the conundrum for Setz since he and Angela were the only ones who knew about Lark being a human. All of the other students and staff think he is just some non-noble who happened to possess one of the strongest abilities. Also, don't forget how Lark passed the entrance exam with "flying colors." This may affect how others think of him and his new found ability.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that Bathory and Nergal know about Lark as well.
That's a pretty good theory as sure as they come, and I can agree with it wholeheartedly. I can only assume that Chepesh was waiting for some human, with the right compatibility, to be able to handle his ability - so one day he can hope to reek havoc in the world of Crepuscule.

And, as you noticed, Lark now has the eyes of a pure-blood vampire. For those who haven't noticed, just look and see how there is a tiny black dot as a pupil in Larks eyes.

I can see it more like Chepesh is corrupting Lark or something, or it could be like Spiderman 3 too.... lol

Finally I'll also post a theory of my own here.

well the original chepesh looks nothing like lark but he looks just like him in his dreams. I'm sure oceana or someone already brought it up but it's possible that chepesh is in a spiritform simmiliar like a ghost can change into fog and waited for a suitable host.  when he entered/possessed lark maybe so much time had gone by already that he didn't remember his original form so he took the form of his host.

or maybe he changed his form in lark to look like him so lark would trust him.

anyway having the nature power over light...that's pretty neat. also when looking at larks eyes...it seems like his original eyes are still in the backround behind the pureblood vampire eyes he sports now.

/discuss :D

Whoa, that's a lot that you found and dug out of the forums (I'm really impressed - no joke) you don't have to include the last one that you quoted from me lol

I gathered all I deemed relevant, that I knew of, there are bound to be tons of other posts I overlooked, it's a start though. From here people can expand on the existing theories or add the ones I forgot :D

True lol, until some more chapters come out, I'm not sure about any new theories at the moment lol.

But I think you pretty much summed up the majority of the more relevant theories xD

  • Location...... nya :3

You pretty much summed up all of the theories. The only other thing that I can think of is a vampire having an ability to turn into a human.
