Why did the pilot believe they could get off the island if they acted with haste?

Who was the 'Lord of Hades'?

Why did they leave in a ship at the end, wouldn't that huge whale thing have attacked them?

This is just a theory and I got some info from edennoori.wikia.com instead of rereading the whole manga. Maybe you have this figured out already after so long.

The pilot believes they could get off the island if they acted with haste because

During the first night Masaru used a megaphone to announce they made contact with Japan and help is on their way.

I don't know how he made contact, maybe a sos or something like sending a message before the connection through the present Japan get disconnected. Maybe he did not even manage to do that and lie to calm people.

Lord of Hades is a survivor of the students who witness Kouhei stabbing the pilot (chap 20 pg 16). I guess he puts on the mask to protect his identity from Kouhei in case Kouhei use his popularity and support to discriminate or kill Hades. Other than that, his true name is not revealed though Yuki figured out who he is. So he might be living among the group without wearing the mask.

I finished reading this and the ending and this manga seems like it was done half a**ed.

Spoiler

I feel sad about this series, it could have been a really great series, but the ending, to me, was a great disappointment. It wasn't clear as to what really happened and I really read the series to find out what really happened..

I heard that the popularity decreased or something of that line so it was axed.

I could be completely wrong, but that is what I believe.

Ya I heard he was given 3 chapters to wrap it up because of a drop in popularity

I gotta say it wasn't that interesting, 4 pages of fanservice for every chapter, many stupidity... the action escenes were right, and the monsters grew strange, then the microbiae.. what can i say, it wasn't that special, not a bad wrap for how in the middle they were.

This explains so much to me about that ending.

That's just crash protocol. It's part of each and every pilot's job to keep everyone calm. Because in a plane crash the worst thing to happen is everyone panicing, and running nobody knows where.
