I remember when I was younger there was a time when I would brush my teeth and spit out the foamy mess in my mouth to see faint color of blood mixed in concoction of saliva and toothpaste. I looked up at my mother with terror, "mommy, there's blood." She glanced over and smiled, "it happens sometimes." I was skeptical but I chose to believe her.
I realize now how much I have learned from my mother in the short time we were together. How everything she told me from when my memory begins was for the sake of my safety and survival. Such simple lectures she preached and yet they are things embedded in my mind forever. If I were to die, how disappointed would she be? All her lessons would have been for nothing.
