Looking back at the series, I came to realize that the "I Don't Know About That" joke was a lot more saturated into the dialogue than I appreciated the first time. I mean, I noticed it a few times, here or there, but reading it a second time, I started looking for it...
And then I realized: The authors like to claim a point, and then immediately illustrate that point. It's a little too subtle to call humor, but for me it was a good laugh reading through a second time.
For example, when Mashiro was drafting his submission for the Love Fest, and they were talking about charming serious humor, we immediately see a lovey dovey scene, which genre savvy Mashiro becomes irritated by.
I don't know about that...
