One thing I have to say about this manga is that the teacher's (Baldy-yama) character is rather peculiar. He is extremely competent in calligraphy, as well as being hugely enthusiastic about it, but he seems to get angry and confrontative over the strangest things. He starts yelling at Yuki and calling her names while they were on the beach, merely because she questioned something Miura Sensei said. He also gives the results of the student's entries to the "Koshien of Calligraphy" in the worst possible way, and then is dismissive and defensive when they are upset. At the summer camp, he is enchanted by the female teacher's "gentle teaching style," and yet his teaching style is anything but gentle. True, he has a lot to put up with from Kamo San and Miwa San, but I really think he brought most of it upon himself. It is as though tact is a concept completely foreign to his nature. He also seems to have very little understanding of high school aged people (although I can remember that, even after all these years, as not being uncommon among HS teachers). He's a believable character, but is also a bundle of contradictions.
