  • LocationThe internet. Actually, no, I'm a bunch of letters on your screen that may or may not originate from a person who acts a little different when talking to you face to face. Can be found at the D2 Brigade, MAL, on twitter and on tvTropes (mainly the ToG page).
Forgive me for bringing this slightly vulgar topic to the table, but after the latest chapter I have rekindled my passion for shipping to an incredible degree (no pun intended).

Basic question, though:

Which relationships would you like to see or support? And why?

I am actually particularly fond of the Teo/Gandharva pairing, because Teo brings out a very kind and considerate side of Gandharva, so far so that he has scruple killing her. That and the constant teasing between them is just adorable.
They are also similar in that they have torn up families, so you could argue that two halfs make a whole.

Otherwise, I really want to see where the story will go after Ran actually got in his thick skull that Asha is a woman. Bickering always seems to attract shippers, doesn't it?

I don't see Ran/Asha going anywhere because Ran has been in love with Rana for years, and there were some understated hints that Rana wasn't entirely indifferent to him (ie. this time frame related to his graduation).

I thoroughly support Leez/Yuta. Because, Yuta. I think Yuta is going to have to decide between Leez and his brother, though, but then Yuta mightn't be too happy with him for nuking dozens of villages either.

I don't really support Leez/Kubera. Kubera (although it's possible this whole thing is him trying to undo a terrible wrong he did in the past by killing Ananta through deceptive, dishonourable means) is by far the closest thing to an outright villain here. Blackmailing Gandharva. Arranging for the deaths of lots of humans. Using Sagara & co (who are running around killing humans because he's told them to kill Leez, even when Kubera knows perfectly well where Leez is and is deliberately preserving her life).

Brilith/Agni is pretty much a given, though it's not a variety of romance I find particularly interesting (guy knows immensely more than girl, girl gets embarrassed, blushes a lot, loses her temper a lot, is self-sacrificial all over the place).

I don't think Asha will have any form of romance whatsoever. I would love for someone to come along and make her happy, but there are very few personality types which would suit her, and I don't think she's going to be at all interested in romance in any way until revenge has been served. If I was going to pick a possibility for her, it would be Lutz Sairofe (because that would mess with Ran's head, heh, and because Lutz is someone Asha would probably respect as a magician). But, seriously, Asha and romance, it just isn't on the cards.

Teo/Gandharva has immense and wonderful possibilities, but only under certain conditions. They have this kind of carefully matched past of losing loved ones to the sura world and wanting to believe they're alive, but have reacted to it in opposite ways (Teo by being incredibly energetic, hopeful and helpful, Gandharva by vacillating between morose depression and the violent coldness which apparently was his nature before his marriage). They would make a great match, but only if Gandharva, at this critical juncture point, chooses not to kill her. He has to make a conscious choice here to want her to live, to want to find a different solution than doing what God Kubera says.

I think my ideal progression for that, given the interesting moment we left them in, is for Gandharva to clumsily stumble into her, both of them to fall over (and, hell, throw an accidental lip-lock into that), barely escape falling, and for Gandharva to be thrown into such a welter of confusion by how this all makes him feel that he retreats for the day. Then, tomorrow, Yuta or Leez can draw the Sword of Re, destroying the barrier without Gandharva having to have done anything to Teo.

Seriously, talk about bad timing! All Gandharva has to do is wait a day or two and problem solved!

How about that ominous #1 AA Magician who did not appear in the storyline yet ^^? I bet Asha could develop feelings if she would meet her equal, she is indifferent also because she feels so remote and highly above everyone ^^ Of course this would require her revenge trip to side track or slow down... but, who knows?
