And it does seem like the girl was raped, and after she grew up she killed her dad? Which is why she's in hell too.

Wow the story sure went dark...it's somewhat lucky that the drawing style isn't so realistic, or else it would be much more disturbing...

I don't think she was raped but whatever her father did to her was something very nasty and very humiliating. Very nasty because both his younger self and older self were so disgusted they threw up. In the eyes of an elementry school kid I don't think he would understand and get so disgusted with seeing sex between father and daughter. I have a feeling her father made her do nasty stuff like drink urine or eat feces or blowjob. In the eyes of a little kid that is a dirty part and a dirty part in a persons mouth is very disgusting.

You think like that because you are American. How Americans and Japanese think about children is so different as to be almost the complete opposite of each other.i didn't read the raws, but that is stupid , it is because he abandoned a friend when he was in elementary school after being threatened by the father?? he was a kid, i would understand if he killed someone or stole or abused or any other sin after he reached adulthood , but an elementary school kid and he was threatened by an adult, he would be scared of the same thing happening to him. lol if i were him i would call a lawyer to get me out of hell , lol
In America, as you know, children are thought to be holy beings who can do no wrong and can not think for themselves but if you have read a considerable amount of manga, you would know that in Japan children sometimes are depicted to be even more mature and responsible than adults themselves. That doesn't really mean that the Japanese think of children as adults, but they think of them as something more than thinkless, innocent pure beings who cannot be held responsible for any of their actions. Heck, that's the reason why manga and anime often has nudity, complex plot and themes like death even when they are aimed at chldren: Japanese parents understand that their children are children, and allow them childish pleasures, but also expect and accept greater maturity in their children than Westerners do.
This is exacerbated when dealing with themes like sin and the afterlife. For example, in Jigoku Shoujo the protagonist was judged as a sinner and condemned by the lord of hell, even though she was a child and in my opinion, she was more than justified to do what she did.

it's funny when you used as an example of japanese children based on the manga you saw and applied it as real life logic, i guess you read too much manga.
...
not really ...
some manga have the story and the plot might goes around the situation in real live too ...
(to give more "real" feeling)
Example :
Sun Ken Rock apply black page of history in Korea and Japan ...
