A bit late, but for great results:
- if it's jpg, save to png before resizing
- use photoshop/photopaint/other advanced tool to resize it, setting width to 150px

So that's where I went wrong.. I resized it to 250px :p
But after playing with contrast and brightness, it looks sharp enough now
