I heard the 1st book of the series is practically the same. However it changes from there on and goes into a different direction. Sargent Dokes doesn't die, Lagurta does, Deb already knows Dexter's Secret, He has a Daughter not a soon, He is daker and kills people in worser ways. He trains Cody to be a killer and eventually kills Cody and so on~ (I haven't read it for myself yet, but its what I've been told)
