It's sometimes hard to determine why some manga are deemed appropriate for a Seinen magazine. I've read a number with feminine female protagonists. From what I've seen in Josei manga historical fiction doesn't seem as big? I suppose the publishers find what tends to be more hip with certain demographics and follow that.
