Well, he became friends with an earth spirit several chapters ago...so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's the spirit.
It is strongly implied to be a new spirit summon, probably Gnome or something like it.

I agree completely! I was praying for her face to be beaten in by the end of the chapter.
What usually bothers me about the aggressive/posessive/violent types in many anime's and manga is that they get off scot free more often than not. They initiate violence, often outright try to kill a character at times more than once but are left off with a "stern talking to" that most of the time has to be repeated several times.
It's someone who often tried to KILL them and often more than once for crying out loud.
