Happy but 'bad' ending. Still, it lends itself to a sequel.

It's looking that way, if not, there better be a sequel manga because the ending was pure bullshit. While a beautiful ending for a for part manga but if theres no more after this, then it's bullshit and just ruins things.

 

I really hope it wasn't axe and that there'll be another manga to continue to the story like with rosario + vampire or to-love-ru (though in that case the mangaka was going through a bitter divorce, ended it, and created a new manga to continue it).

Nah, it was straight out dumb.  Pride is always a hindrance, especially in manga, but it usually makes for a good buildup in the story later.  If people didn't make stupid mistakes, the story would be over pretty quickly, right?

I have a feeling that the Shinsengumi is about to be born.

I think I'm willing to accept that Soji was beaten.  But it would be too much for me to grasp if both Soji and Hajime would be defeated in a single manga.

in ch33, shouldn't that be Sōji instead of soushi?

My only gripe was the move from the correct Hepburn- in the speech of the consulate and the vice-consulate, for example. I can get Touma calling him Hebun, but the British? Damn it, it's Hepburn- like the Hepburn romanization system- still in use to this day!

@Lowlightt: I was referring to chapter two. But I now realize that it's only the doctor, who speaks somewhat strange. And it makes sense, as he is a foreigner.
