Worst worst worst ending ever.
I sat through every piece of frankly bullcrap, asinine story telling technique. Characters introduced as thin as paper. Relationships tarnished, revised, forgotten or just plane pushed in or out of being for what seemed like convenience's sake. Literal story elements contradicting each other or just being plane worthless.

But No, That ending. It wasn't worth sitting through the headache. It wasn't worth having to back track and wonder if some of the hypocrisy was more of a character trait than just shoddy remembering. 
IT WASN'T WORTH IT AT ALL

The art really took a huge nose dive, can't pin point where but somewhere along the line everyone started looking really weird with inconsistent facial features. I can live with using photos as the backgrounds, but tracing the faces and bodies to save time was a bad move.

I think the ending is a perfect character ending for hideo, but a TERRIBLE way to end the story. Nothing wrong with not fully explaining things and leaving somethings to the imagination of the reader, but this is just a huge chunk that's missing from the manga.

I honestly don't know which manga left a worse taste in my mouth, this or gantz.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooh, ooooooooooh that burn hurts too much, but i digress.

See, in here we got a blue balling ending because the author gave up and is pretty much dropping the series, with Gantz he just went with a bunch of bullshit and failed, hell he is still trying to milk it now with the all female Gantz manga excet that we all know that we shouldn't expect nothing from him.

Wow, that ending took me completely by surprise.  But somehow that's expected of Kengo Hanazawa.

 

I think it was great. Hideo has gotten old and lonely, just as the ZQN hivemind said he would. This sort of suits him because his heart was always closed, and he wasn't socially fit. He's also learned the skills he needed to survive, so we're lead to believe he will spend the rest of his days like this. There's no fuss, no big drama, no epic or heroic ending, but that's just how he's lead his life up to this point so it's fitting. 

 

There's no suicide as well, because that wouldn't be like him. He's got his delusions to keep him company, so he can deal with the loneliness, again just like how he did before.

 

He just survives, that's it. I like this ending.

I'm looking forward to it. Boys On The Run was brilliant, although I still have to read the final volume.

So uh, what's the main objective of ZQN here? Cleansing the earth because people cause massive environmental damage?

i think the objetive all the time was the unification of the human nature as a whole the author tried to explain some chapters but it was pretty weak in my opinion, now what was the main objetive on this unification i dont know

In the final color page, hanazawa made hideo a pretty guy (with his hat on)? I don't mind this ending but it doesn't feel like it's actually over. I would say it feels unresolved but I don't think there's anything left about Hideo I want to know anyways. It feels more like we were reading his past and only now caught up, and the rest of his real adventures have yet to happen. Like InfiniteVerisimilitude said, it wasn't a cinematic blockbuster climax. I think it would have gone down easier for some people if it was all released as one giant chapter dump, though. 

Like Maximum Kek said, maybe in the future we will get a sequel or something.

They are disappointed with the lackluster ending to an amazing story. It's well deserved because the ending sucked.

I will give it a 7 of 10.

this ending.. the author could make a decent ending but for some freaking reason the author fucked it up... i mean, the author could just end it after what happened to korori's gang and hideo after the escape event... but the author add a couple of chapters that doesn't help the ending at all... why?... why did the author do it?... can't he make even a decent open ending?... why add extra, unimportant chapters?...

I guess it goes with the overall theme of Hanazawa's work that losers will still be losers no matter what happens, though.

It wasn't a satisfying cinematic climax but it was a careful considered depressing petering out. A deconstruction of the hero.

I don't think it's really axed - it's massively popular in Japan and there's even a live action movie. I think the author, like so many Japanese authors do, purposely ended it there to leave room for spinoffs, of which there's already at least one you can also find on Batoto (although it was admittedly more like a Resident Evil/Biohazard spinoff than IAAH).
