Description: | After a long and treacherous journey, our Hero finally arrives at the Demon Queen’s castle only to find himself being asked for help. The Hero explains how the war that the demons have brought upon the humans have killed thousands and put more in misery. The Demon Queen however argues that this war has made the human society band together as one and showed empirical evidence how it has increased population, increased production, boosted economy and improved society overall. Furthermore, she explains to the Hero that ending this war will result in a civil war that will produce more bloodshed than there ever was. The Hero, convinced that the only way to bring peace, relatively speaking, is to join forces with the Demon Queen, agrees to help with her plans! One of five simultaneous serializations of the Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. This version was selected as the official manga adaptation of the light novel. why didnt the demon lord give the muskets to the demons?
Wait, you mean the random button doesn't always lead to yaoi/shounen ai manga?
Damn, Yenpress scheduled release is Feb 2018 for the first book...
Glad this author's work is being licensed, but when will I be able to see the ending, I wonder?
To everyone that is still looking forward to reading the next chapter, I wish you luck. For me, I read this series when it was first translated and found it to be a fresh and enjoyable take on the typical "Hero vs. Demon Lord" tale. But, ever since the invention of gunpowder, I've found it to be far less entertaining and more contrived/drama-ridden for the sake of drama. Again, I wish you all the best, but this series is over for me. Farewell.
does this go beyond the anime? if so in what chap?
Because "dũng giả" sound similar to "Yuusha" so maybe that why they used it
VIetnamese version, they use "dũng giả" instead "anh hùng" for "hero", this sound very wierd because this words is very Sino-Vietnamese and almost never be used in any Vietnamese old scripts, thus it make Vietnamese reader has hard time to follow their title, lolz.
Holy shit, I just finished the first chapter.
Found this manga through the Random button, best lucky find ever.
Well, if they just brought enough supplies to head back home, with their forces cut in half they should have a pretty big surplus of food. Now there are other ways to assault the star fort than simply to blast it down, such as trying to scale it with towers/ladders or to dig under with sappers, but most all of these require a large wood supply, which the humans don't seem to have, and time, which the human army doesn't have supplies for. If they have the tech for an explosive shot, they could try firing over the walls and starting fires in the city, which would be chaos. And of course there is some super magic that could also overturn the situation.
To be honest, none of this means a whole lot since this story treats guns as more powerful than they realistically were. In the last battle the musket forces seemed to have the performance of a group armed with bolt action rifles considering they could completely lay waste to such a large force with basically no resistance. A real musket's range was only about 50 yards (they could individually shoot farther, but thats about the optimal range for max damage). Their firing rate was also abysmal. Comparatively, bows had far superior range and fire rate originally. Their only redeeming feature was their high stoping power and the huge noise and smoke they created, which were intimidating. The story makes a big deal about how the human army has a huge numbers advantage, which is true. But that is actually not very useful with muskets if you think about it. With the musket's stubby range, every person past the front ranks is basically useless since the squads behind the first have a max range that ends at where their frontline squad is.
Longbows, for example, had a typical effective range of about 300-350 yards ish, which is about 6-7 times the effective range of the musket, and the humans are pretty lightly armored. A group of longbow archers could easily have laid waste to the fairly immobile musket force. Mongolian horse archers too could have whittled down the human forces with endless harassment, eating away at their numbers, morale and supplies while the short ranged muskets and slow heavy cavalry would have been powerless to counterattack. Ignoring magic or demon powers, with just medieval tech there were numerous ways to fry this human army if they didn't have a narrative power bonus.
Because seeing Hero fight will only cause both sides to take up arms with gusto, with more deaths on both sides.
I can see magician's idea on why she wants Hero to stay out of it - this seems you need to take the leaders of both sides and come to a compromise rather than the long drawn-out siege war.
That's the question though, isn't it? Are the provisions they've set up enough to outlast the crusaders? Or if the crusaders' commanders don't find a way to cirumvent the walls (these guys are actually pretty competent), and then there's the Archbishop simply blasting the walls with demon lord bullshit if it goes on long enough.
IT LIVES !!!!!!!!!
He protected queen oppai
NEVER FORGET
Agreed, Star Forts would be basically impossible to siege successfully with a late medieval/early renaissence army.
I'm not an artillery expert but those cannons look like simple bombards to me.
They'd block more people than adrian's wall?
To be honest, defeating this human army is really easy. They honestly just need to sit back in that fortress and wait a few weeks. That city has really high concrete sloped walls in a star shape, similar to very late medieval castles. That kind of angled wall design wouldn't fall to even heavy siege cannons that are as large as elephants, let alone the smaller field cannons this army is shooting. The human army has also taken to shelling like they are WWI trench soldiers. That kind of sustained shelling against an anti artillery designed fortress is just burning their limited gunpowder supply. Moreover, the human army brought one giant force but don't seem to have paid any mind to setting up a stable supply line for a sustained siege. As long as there is a decent amount of food stocked up in the city, the demons can just sit back and watch the human army starve themselves into retreat.
I do wonder though, if the Demon Queen will be forced to use more advanced weapons against the human kingdoms (she already has rifles and certainly the capacity to mass produce them
Also I can't wait to see how Elder Sister Maid will diplomacy the shit out of the central kingdoms' army.
It's been 3000 years...
I'm really itching to make the obvious "wall" joke...
