Thanks a lot, Japanzai.  So far, this is a great story, with a lot of really interesting (albeit odd) characters.  I really love the MC, with her simple/single-mindedness about running.  She's also a good person who puts the good of others over her own advancement.  The megane girl is also great.  I'm really looking forward to more about her and her development.  I used to run a lot before my knees gave out at 45 (LSD meaning long slow distance, never having been fast) and know how enjoyable it is.  I love the way the mangaka  brings out the joy in running to the readers.  After a number of miles, that endorphin blast hits, you speed up, and feel like superman as you blaze down the trail.  It's great.  I've only felt that euphoria in running, rowing, and bicycling.

While I don't mind taking some time to get the team together, my biggest concern is that as soon as they do get it together, it will be the last chapter. :\

Cool, thanks a lot for the new chapter Japanzai!!

Now I disagree with the all youthful sport manga start with this intro.
Either it starts with a club existing or not.   In this one the club wasn't there, so they add people to the club one at a time.

After all there's one's like Prince of Tennis, Baby Steps, Kuroko no Basuke, Diamond no Ace...  they all start with a team that already exist contrary to your statement.

and what Comadrin said below.

Don't forget Slam Dunk.

*sigh* Why do all these youthful sport manga start. The. Same. Damn. Way. Every. Fuckin'. Time. So cliche. Can't somebody join a school club without people being give-up assholes that need the plucky hero/heroine to turn things around and get them motivated? Just stop acting like dicks in the beginning, explain the present situation is, and then go on about your business like normal, socially adjusted human beings. Sheesh.

Many sports manga (series by Adachi Mitsuru, Shanimuni Go, Regatta, and several others I have read) often start off with the club/team in a dismal state.  One or more really dedicated person steps in and turns things around.  If a high school baseball manga started out with Sadaharu Oh, Kakefu, Willie Mays, Nolan Ryan, and Hank Aaron as first year high school students aiming for Koshien, whipping the team into shape in record time, destroying everything in their path at the cyclic rate, it would make for a pretty boring story, except to those arm chair aces who dream of being the god's gift to the world of sports (or to all women, or whatever) while they drink fizzy drinks and eat bag after bag of Doritos while lying on the couch.  A sports manga has to have hurdles to overcome, and hurdles aren't overcome by committee.  Well, maybe they can be overcome that way, but it would be a pretty boring story.

A "plucky hero/heroine" to turn things around: is that so bad?  Would it be more interesting to have a school board that decides to improve the school standing by promoting sports teams?  I'm sure the bureaucratic infighting would really rally the shounen/ shoujo demographic readers in Japan in droves.  (Sarcasm in foregoing statement.)

So it's cliche.  Big deal.  In a manga, like any story, it isn't important how cliche the plot is, but how the plot, characters, and writing acumen of the mangaka deal with the cliche.  Supposedly, according to my literature teachers, there are a very limited number of plots, and they have already been used again and again from the time of the Epic of Gilgamesh, through Homer and Virgil, the Epic of Manas, Shakespeare and everyone between and after them.  If there isn't some hurdle to be overcome in the very beginning of a sports manga, it is going to be as popular as mammaries on a boar hog.  Slice of life is a great genre, but in a sports manga, it is counter productive.

Michi is kind of an idiot-savant.  That has been seen before, although she isn't quite as idiotic as, say, the mc in Shanimuni Go.  She's absolutely dedicated to her sport, believes in people, is sensitive to other's feelings almost to a weakness, and totally earnest.  Geez, no young person in Japan or anywhere else would believe in someone like that.  (Again, sarcasm rears it's ugly head.)  In a sports manga, the characters have to be dedicated to the point of vomiting blood, or there's no reason to write one (and damned few editors/publishers who would take a chance on printing it).

Lighten up when reading sports manga.  As PLG has said, "It's not the tropes you use, but how you use the tropes."  Sports manga are written according to certain rules, but Cross Game can be totally fresh and enjoyable right after reading Buyuden.

I feel the same way, but...they're in middle school so I cut the story some slack.

Vice-principal has the best reactions.

I'm not feeling this grudge she has

Seems overblown

I don't think it's a grudge per se

Thank you Japanzai for releasing these recent chapters in essentially one go.

I don't think my heart could have taken it if you released them monthly...

It is a monthly manga. We were just behind, but have recently caught up. Enjoy. :P

Those colored pages are fucking beautiful. Anime adaptation when?

That Rio person maybe in the basketball club but why does she have to block all advances in this manga?...

Really, out of all the places they can go, they run into a CHURCH...

All they need are some doves & glock, then instant John Woo scene.
