i would love to see Kagami's arc drag on for a little longer, all the arc before had like 3 chapters to resolve, but this one is like the core problem, even mentioning characters from the first series and prequel to that, and that encounter with Kagami's dad that shook Ken's personality is something that the author can explore more.

No, the guy isn't really his full version. The main difference is that Sugisaki wants to make everyone happy, while the guy just wants harem for his own use (for selfish reasons), even going as far as rating them. Pretty much that.
