actually yeah.  the garbage that most people listen to, like lil wayne and kanye and puff daddy and two chains, is just that, garbage.  try some eric b & rakim, or the herbaliser, or jurassic 5, or saul williams, or mc chris, or big daddy kane, or the streets, or.... (note that all of those are vastly different in style and substance; hip hop is a pretty big genre).  you could even "ease" your way into hip hop by starting with trip hop - massive attack is one of the greatest groups ever, i highly suggest giving them a listen.

I feel like you hate on a lot of mainstream things just because they are mainstream. Lil Wayne and Kanye have some pretty good songs. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean that they're trash.

Catharsis, according to my 'research' is getting the right balance of an emotion through extreme change in emotion, like how Lessing said; "men are sometimes too much addicted to pity or fear, sometimes too little; tragedy brings them back to a virtuous and happy mean."

Honestly, what I was going to do is googling catharsis and copy-paste that for the reply, just to show how easy it is to do 'research' and write a little bit more. but after I actually did it and failed to understand the meaning, I hop into Wikipedia and getting my eyes tired and forgotten what is the 'little more' that I wanted to write before.

Thanks for making me understand that a simple-sounded research that requires more than a google search is can be tiring. I probably should practice doing it more.

Nice blog post. I recommend researching what catharsis is in detail next time you decide to diss a few genres, though. Would probably get rid of that simplistic opinion of yours.

The Japanese in general are masters of not keeping the Tone in their works(note: this is not a good thing) but this takes the cake. I honestly have no idea what the author expected me to feel reading this.

Lol, the long awaited climax of Tolza's true potential, turns out to be comedy gold.

Honest that moment is the loudest i have giggling in this entire manga.

And it doesn't help that lots of thing actually building up for that exact funny moment:

-The watcher's embarassment cuz her silly idea for a supermove name got used.

-That white haired boy who crying happiness seeing the true potential of a subjugator.

-Tolza indifferent emotion while doing subjugating and his genre-savvyness, which makes his coughing cuz he's screaming the supermove name too long the more gold.

-and the Mushroom Grower herself, for IMO being a character that kinda a mess, her defeat being totally overshadowed by comedy actually make it better.

I don't like manga that being gory just for the sake of being gory.

The same reason I don't like Gantz, Platinum End, Real Account, or any variation of tragedy manga.

People like to assume the MC is edgy because of black and blood related skills. The MC isn't an edgelord at all. If anything, he's more of an asshole with a task he despises.

I don't understand why people complain so much about "edgyness". Everything is "edgy" nowadays. No one is forcing you to read the series.

A typical edgelord would:

Shoulder the burden, and often times acts alone.

Avoids having to deal with people in general other than their enemies.

Has an awkward sense of justice.

Compains about the world and probably his life.

Delves into dark arts.

Tolza on the other hand openly talks about stuff with his comrades, aside from talking about hero compensation, and even considers wanting to become a hero. We've seen him gone through two teams being an asshole until he meets Shizu and other subjugators with a different outlook in life. We see that it's starting to affect him somewhat with worrying about his appearance and the weight of his sword.

What kind of edgelord spends their money on cute clothes, especially if its not for himself? What kind of edgelord actually considers becoming a hero, with a super special move?

I will call bullcrap on this one. "There would be an uproar" yeah, of course there would. And while they do want a dystopia, people don't. What do I mean by this? Well, seeing that the bandaged one didn't get finished after spreading the secret, the higher ups don't care/don't have a way to find out. So if a subjugator was smart enough to convince everyone in a city to sign, the people would, uproar or not, sign the contract to save their lives. This truly is an attempt to go over the edge with edgyness, 

Why would the Ministry of Enforcement Central Tuning Department care about what the people want? I'm 99% sure that if you want a dystopia, you wouldn't care about what other people wanted. Keeping a secret among, what, 10 people? Isn't hard. Watchers act if they find something out of line, but Ezekiel isn't a threat yet, unlike the camera guy who could have broadcasted the whole affair to the third layer.

Think about the physical limitations... contracting an entire city would equate to the subjugator having to drink gallons and gallons of blood (or H with the entire population, lmao).

Could be doable in a long drinking campaign though. Contract the entire city, then nuke the city once subjugator is about to fight the demon lord. Call it a 'perfectly timed buff'.

Hmm, thinking about the mechanics, what would happen if a subjugator drank the blood of a 'demon lord part'? Would he get the op levels for the duration? Lol.

The cookie is a rare resource that can only be taken x amount of times in a given time limit, and it only lasts 15 minutes. They only administer it to subjugators because subjugators are the only class that can bypass the 999 damage cap. They don't force everyone to be contracted to the subjugators because if the citizens were fighting the demon king and they saw the subjugator taking levels, there would be an outroar. The secret of the subjugator class is kept a secret, which is why watchers exist - in part to help keep the cat in the bag.

 

The entire system is made to be fucked up anyways because the Ministry of Enforcement Central Tuning Department wanted a dystopia. You won't get that by having a system that works decently.

No, it's different, because you born with it. It's like your natural tallents, but measured and labeled. Even in the real world people are different. At first you could born in different circumstances, like in rich family, in middle-class family, in poor family, in family of sect followers, etc. After that comes your natural talents you could've get, like talent to music, to solving a math stuff, good physique, nothing extraordinary at all, down syndrome, etc. Allso you can born as male or female. And that determines all your life. I wonder you're not gonna call it totalitarian. There we have thingy with natural tallents, but techno-exaggerated.
