Thats fair but stupid.
Why should audiences read the light novels to find out what happened after the anime? Imagine if you had to play a video game to find out what happened after the end of a movie. Most people would simply drop the franchise.

Almost none of these commercials never do. They just hope you're interested enough to go get the light novels to fill in the blanks and find out what happens next.
