I quit reading ToG when it switched to Naver due to bad translations. I re-checked it today and things were cleaned up. The only hang ups I had were with some name changes. Great news overall!

 

Yeah this is almost more annoying than bad translations. I was able to get thcmpny reader to show it correctly after some refreshes and stuff, but it's really inconsistent.  Your best bet is to google "webtoons script" and get a script (greasemonkey or similar is needed) installed in your browser that forces the page to display properly while browsing Webtoons.  People who know a little coding can also use the Stylish add-on to quickly change the layout into something easier.

The cutting is certainly not caused by Webtoons Reader or thcmpy but LINE's official translators had cut it. Read it on LINE and see it yourself.

maybe some of the older chapters i didnt look at have terrible translations, but all the official stuff i've seen is pretty much on-par with Thcmpny's, just a few changed names and some occasional awkward phrasing.

seems naver gets the new chapters posted in english at around 10-10:30 am EST.  i dont know about you guys, but i like getting a good translation sunday morning instead of having to wait 3-5 days for one.

Aww... It's really kinda upsetting that ToG had to be taken down from here. I really, really, super loved the work The Company did with it. (other group's translations, typesetting, etc. don't really compare) I guess I will have to track down somewhere else to read it, sadly. Thank you for all the work you guys did with the series!

Its the same thing on LINE's mobile app and mobile website. Its LINE that has cut it off and not the website.

... what? Are you delusional? ToG is the most popular korean webcomic, easily, but there are literally dozens of better-known Japanese manga that are also hosted on batoto, and in more languages than this comic was ever translated into.

LOL, look at reality, they can´t do anything if Batoto don´t listen. Look at all the other hundreds of mangareaders sites. Mangafox, steal steal steal steal, still going strong to this date no matter how many letters they get. Dm5, chinese making the big bucks outta Japanese manga, still going strong.

mangafox doesn't show their manga to US ip addresses anymore. It costs them a bunch of money, but they still make money off of the foreign hosting, which is legal because those countries don't have copyright on the series in question. So no, in fact, DMCA successfully tagged mangafox, please stop talking out of your ass.

Batoto doesn't have the technical background to enable/disable for US IPs only, so they were merely compliant and took it all down.

They don't have a choice; they got a DMCA notice.  Unless you're offering to pay for their legal defense if they're sued?

Because https://www.webtoonsreader.com is a easy to remember and neat domain. It is also "https" which makes it a secure connection, so no one can sniff info about what you are doing there (l0l).

Oh my. I was under the impression that this translation was only marginally-bad, perhaps being the consequence of a new project running under a newly-formed and incompetent team. But, oh, no... this is bad. I can't append "very" or "major" or "sadly" or "pathetically" bad. Neither can I replace the word with "awful" or "humiliating" or "farcical". Not even saying, "If someone from my field produced something equivalent, I would feel the immediate and self-immobilizing urge to self-terminate," -- no, not even that really works, for a non-English speaker might not fully understand the sentence's implied messages and layers, frames of thought nested in other frames, and these all filled-in with the experiential knowledge an English speaker, native or otherwise, gradually learns and incorporates into their existence. Truly, the universal word, machine-translatable to other words equally universal in meaning, is required so that every man, woman, child and alien can observe and fully understand my meaning.

 

The official translation is just bad.

Indeed, couldn't you say, since you edited all Korean out of the manga and replaced it with fucking awesome translated special effects, that this is not "Tower of God", but, rather, The Company's original work? Yes, you should try that! Please! I'm so lazy about learning new languages! Don't do this to us lazy people!!!)

Makes me glad to see someone who appreciates the translated SFX . Such fun to clean and re-typeset to match the original~

Correction to last comment; I am an idiot...the translation is still disappointing, though.

Of course it doesn't work with mac os x. F**k I hope mngacow picks it back up. I didn't get to read it on Naver, let alone in webtoon mode, but the translation was just horrible. To wait so long for this series to come back only to get this is so disappointing.
