If you were in his situation please believe that most of the people you run into would throw you under the bus in the HOPES of getting big bucks off you. Of course not everyone would, but it would be enough that you wouldn't want to risk trusting anyone else with your life (including some family members).
These things are a bit hyped up for the sake of entertainment, but it's not far off from what you could expect from the general public.

Although there's some realism to the govt and other big groups' reaction to those Ajins, I think the people's reaction is a bit overdone, if not unnatural.

There's a bad habit of making everyone a friggin' sociopath in mangas. But well, the intensity of the first chapter makes up for it.
This manga is so cruel and twisted... but too interesting to stop reading.
