It seems like "Post-Ending Adventure Quest" stories are all the rage now. That and series with absurdly long names...

Rather than "Post-Ending Adventure Quest" stories, I'd say that what's in the rage now are re-interpretations of the whole maou/yuusha type of stories. In Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, it was a subversion by making the hero and the maou work together instead of fighting each other, and here it's a deconstruction of the whole trope.
About the long names I don't think Japanese names were always particularly short. I mean, one of the first anime I watched as a child dubbed was Sekai Meisaku Douwa: Aladdin to Mahou no lamp, and this was in the early 80's. Of course, since it was dubbed it was called simply "Aladdin and the lamp" so maybe the reason why people think that "long names" are the rage now is simply because we are getting exposed to the original Japanese names, which in the past were replaced by shorter, generic names by the localization companies.

If only I could land a job with a resume like that...
