wait...this isnt ok...this is some ingrained family abuse shit...this fucking entire family has a problem
no wonders. they are brothers.
Mortal Kombat.
I don't know what it is about this manga, but I find it takes a lot of effort to get through a chapter. I guess I'll put it aside for now. - stopped at chapter 6
....My visions for Tsuyoshi's girlfriend were shattered pretty fast. I was excited for some bad-ass unconventional otaku chick (??? Maybe a fujoshi, just 'cuz they always make me laugh). Well...I guess Yukirin is unconventional, considering she's a lot like those ditsy 'popular' girls in manga that drive me up the wall.
Well, in chapter 9 we see that she has a very clear conviction for hating guys. I'd say that she hates anyone who diverts Anna's attention away from her, but her hatred of guys is also very integral and more founded.
Well, I think it's, um, nice? Or something. That in 5.1 we see clearly that it's not so much that Mari "hates guys". Really, she hates anyone who might take Anna's attention away from her.
I'm actually not that sure if Mari is straight out lesbian or just in love with Anna. She hasn't shown any interest in anyone other than Anna and she hasn't been mentioned of every falling for another girl. Of course Anna could just be her first love but I have a sneaking suspicion she might have liked a guy before and had been betrayed. As it stands, Mari could either be bi/pan/demi or Anna might be the special girl in her life. Considering all of the things I've heard and seen, falling for one girl won't make you strictly lesbian.
I do agree that Mari is mean and she does annoy me a bit.
This manga is weird. Mari is supposedly a lesbian and the author seems to be "straightening out" her lesbianism in a way.
I don't know if the mangaka actually knows whether or not homosexuality is a choice, but it seems like a weird and forced romance.
Not to mention Mari is straight-up mean and misandrist (the literal definition. dont go whipping any weird fucking rad-feminism on me)
wtf does side story 3 (chapter 5.2) have to do with anything?
also fuck Mari; she's a bitch
Chapter 5.1 is not from NInjiiro days is it? Isn't it chapter 6 from Nanoka no Kare?

Confused the heck out of me for a minute.
It would be really weird if it were, yes. And yes, this is a representation of what by rights should be a pretty unusual situation--the "Sort of lesbian because of trauma". And if it remained a dominant approach to depictions of lesbianism it would still really piss me off. I just don't feel like it's such a huge deal any more because I don't feel like it's a dominant representation or makes lesbianism invisible. There's quite a bit of representation of real lesbians around now. Much of it is lousy, but so is much representation of everyone else.
I must admit in this case I'd be happier if Mari turned out not to be interested-in-men-underneath-it-all, and happiest if she, unlikely as it seems, got the girl and then was able to mellow out about guys a bit once she didn't feel as threatened. I tend to ship that way. But it doesn't bother me a lot. I'll admit that as a guy I'm the wrong person to be making that call--like clueless dudes saying to feminists "But didn't you win?" (no they didn't). But . . . I just do feel like things have changed on this; the idea that this is going to represent lesbianism to anyone feels almost quaint.
Sayaka from Tonari no Kashiwagi-san comes to mind with that assessment.
Right, I just don't enjoy Mari's initial trope. There are definitely signs of her changing for the better later, but I don't like the way many authors write the "female's disapproving best friend" as irrational/violent/both. I definitely empathize with and understand that having poor history with the opposite sex can turn you away/make you mistrusting, but damn, girl, just daaamn.
Hopefully when she changes, she'll be far cuter. I don't hate her now, but I don't like her either. I'm interested in seeing how the author's developed her.
I think I'm really going to cheer up for Matsun and Tsuitsui and wish for him to win her heart~! <3
You know, I initially didn't like her much, but I've started to kind of respect her tenacity. She knows she doesn't hold many cards, but she's fighting her losing game with courage, grimly contesting every skirmish then falling back to fight the next position, all the way through to what she expects to be a bitter end.

Well, what's annoying how lesbians are portrayed as confused girls, who haven't meet a right guy yet or as a man-hating harpies (or both). Her love is described here as an obsession but MC doing the same things and wants to spend time with Anna is a crush/ love. Of course bisexuality is thrown away completely from the picture, you can't be attracted to men and women both, silly! And if you are, you're a degenerate. Ugh...

But, of course, I will be glad if it proves me wrong.
Mari is kind of annoying, I find her man-hating to be more extreme than I'd like in a character. Obviously later she'll be able to tone it down, but her initial character bothers me quite a bit. @_@
Wow, found a hidden jewel. Refreshing story, long chapters, steady progress, characters that I find human (a bunch of friend not trolling each others is not normal IMO), and an actually rather nice MC and main girl.
I need MOAR of this.
Nah that's not what I meant. It's more of a personal preference kinda thing.
Doesn't matter if she fawns over or hates all men/women, I just wanted a little spice or uniqueness that would make Mari, Mari rather than a basic fill-in-the-blanks-to-make-her-your-character man hater.
Idk, it's like that "seen this, read that" or "seen this handled a little better" feeling. Either one.
Maybe I'll like her more in the end. It's one of those cute mangas where you just go with the flow and enjoy the shenanigans (hell yeah fluff fuel) anyway. I was just a little let down by the character delivery is all (having read/seen various media like everyone else)
So refreshing! Love this manga so much!
