I read through the first ten chapters to see if this sort of manga can actually work.
It was pretty funny here and there, alas it is also plagued with the moronic hyper-dork protagonist which focuses the entire sins of the world upon the man and not the female.
The female may be shy or a tad awkward, but the man is stupid, socially awkward and constantly judged and criticized. There was even a part in which his wife says to him : "It's okay that you fail, we'll get better together".
He fails. The guy fails? In the first 10 chapters, he was the only one whom even did anything. The girl just sat there and received without giving shit. The only thing the female provided in the relationship is being cute, having tits and cooking. But the man fails.

And here I thought that manga is for the "Thinking mind"

Yeah, I laughed a brick too when I saw that thing.

I get that this manga is very, very old. And it's also Japanese, so their hyperbole respect for hierarchies and being utterly fearful of the word on the grapevine like middle-easterners is somewhat understandable. But "for the thinking mind" it is not. =P
I just hate how much this manga seems (seems because I hadn't read all of it) to focus on the man and insinuate that's it's HIS job to do EVERYTHING. I also hate how it promotes the idea that men are crazy sex monkeys and cannot think about anything but fucking something every few minutes, while women are these dandy, fragile lil' snowflake. That's not very egalitarian now is it?
In practice, the manga does not fully say that. There are other female character whom are not "traditional" in the sexual manner, alas THEY make the protagonist think it's all his job to satisfy both himself and his partner rather have a synthesis of standards and roles. So, even if the other side of the coin exist; they still want to push forth that traditional nonesense.

This is just me ranting. I just hate traditionalism, and I cannot stand retarded, self-deprecating fucking moronic protagonists. But I cannot really blame the characters as much as I can blame the authors...The protagonist lives in a world in which society tells him it's his job to do everything and if he does not he is a failure. I would also have an anxiety attack every time I did not do something by 100%, and I would also have a panic attack every time I would think someone MAY think of moi as less than perfect if I was living in such a world... That sort of behavior is more common with peeps whom have PTSD, not within a social norm. This manga tries to laugh off this shit.
I do have to wonder...How can people find that sort of characters interesting? I never understood that. It's like laughing at someone with down-syndrome.

Long rant indeed, but you made quite a bit of sense there. On the other hand, the manga somewhat alleviates the "Makoto's the only one responsible" issue later on (chapter 44, if I'm not mistaken). This manga, while not the best, is still informative and quite funny at times. Yet, I have to agree, both Makoto and Yura are quite one-dimensional (as most characters in more casual or badly written manga tend to be...).

One thing annoying about this manga is that Makoto seems to mature and become more thoughtful over a period of time, then instantly reverts to teenage, uber-dork mode.

OK, in ch 192 the caption about lesbianism being basically a phase some girls go through was kind of annoying.  Gives you a taste of the kind of attitude yuri folks in Japan are up against, and why yuri mangaka often seem at pains to show the reverse.

I dunno when chap 190 was first published, but it's like that in the US too. Male toys anyway (not that I would know from experience, especially not years of it) are still sold as novelties, especially in California.
